Ireland / Miss B McNeeny??????
« on: Thursday 22 May 08 00:44 BST (UK)  »
After months of searching I have found out (through Ancestry) that my grt grandma was called Bridget McNeeny.I have spent HOURS searching for the name and any other rellies but without success. There are so few of the blighters I am beginning to think she gave a false name! She was born in Cork in 1854 and at some point came to england and met and married John Durkin d o b 1851 Cork, abt 1881 in Oldham Lancashire England.I can find her in Oldham up to 1901,so thats ok BUT I cannot find her or any other McNeeny's before 1881 and there are no McNeeny's listed on any of the linksites for Ireland, or indeed any of the Irish Surname sites. There are no McNeeny's on the Roots surname sites either,so what do I do now?I am beginning to dislike Miss B McNeeny!

Hi Just a quick Question. I sent for two certs to the GRO on the 4th and 5th of this month,I included all the correct page no's and volume info. How long do they take to reply? I ask this as I havent got them as yet and we have a new postman who has been misdelivering mail to a similar address to mine and visa versa, though I am sure he will get it right eventually! Thanks J

The Common Room / Is this usual??
« on: Friday 22 February 08 19:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I am only 12mths into researching the family and I have been very successful so far thanks to my parents telling me all sorts of things over the years which I wrote down, and the fact my mum would save everything to do with the family eg News Paper clippings etc, and I am in touch with quite a few family members. However I  have posted threads on different sites for info and to see if there is anyone  else doing research into the family. Surely I can't be the only one when my family is so big and so far flung. I have had no response. Is this usual am I being naive?

Durham / Lucas in and around south shields
« on: Tuesday 05 February 08 18:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I am looking for any info into the Lucas family in South shields.I have managed to trace all of the people, in all the census records ect but have got stuck trying to find out about the ship/boat building business which was owned by Peter lucas dob 1842/3 up to the 1901 census. That is when the case goes cold!!This family was Headed by one Micheal Lucas dob 1803, he was born in dunbartonshire, but married a south shield lass around the 1820's.Would love to be able to find living Lucas's as surely I cannot be the sole survivor.Thank you for your time.
