Hi,

On granthammatters .co.uk on the Grantham Past section there are a lot of photo's of the buildings etc PLUS a lot of the background to the site which was opened 1916 as a RFC training aerodrome providing a home for assorted planes including de Havilland,DH Marques and Sopwith Camels it was moth-balled between wars and reopened in 1942 as a 'satellite field'and relief landing ground for a flying training squadron that was based at RAF Spittlegate.

Please can someone help locate Edward Rose for me I have been looking for him for quite a while.I came across him on F.M.P.site by accident and as his Army records stated he was in the Coldstream Guards Service No 4863 from 1854-56 and he was born in Little Gonerby Grantham.A Labourer. I was wondering if he was any relation to my husbands family as his GTGTGrandad was born Vere Court Grantham in 1810 which is in Little Gonerby.
The only one I have found in 1841 HO107/615 Book 25 Folio 3 Page 1 but it says born  Braceby Grantham Union Lincoln.

« on: Sunday 03 April 16 11:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
On the Lincolnshire Echo site there is help requested in locating a photo of the crew of Lancaster 101  with the code SR on the side. The RAF used the station for Bomber Command during WW2 and the cold war.
The shortened background to the request is.
Samuel Charles who is on the photo went to reunions in the 1980's held in the village hall and on the wall was a picture with 70-80 airmen gathered from the wing towards the rear of the plane it was taken 1945-46 when the venue was changed to a pub the photo was missing from the new venue and Sam would love to know where the photo is now.
There is the background to this story on the Lincolnshire Echo site.Any information or help for this WW2 hero can be sent to news(at)lincolnshireecho.co.uk.

Sorry his full name is Samuel Charles Humphry :-[
