G'day........ I believe that properties were siezed and allocated to " friends" of the Commonwealth, but I can't find much information about this. Area of interest is Chorley / Rivington. Also, the Protestation Rolls are giving me heartburn. Can anyone help with this ? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Brian.

Hi...... I would like to research my family's ownership and / or tenancy of properties in the Chorley and Rivington areas. These dealings are stretched over 5 or 6 generations, between 1550 and 1750. The legalities of Tenancies are a bit hazy, but I believe that the right of tenancy could be inherited... is that correct?
The whole point of this is to try and determine who were the owners and who were the tenants of several properties, but it is proving to be very difficult. Any assistance or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks Brian.
