Warwickshire Lookup Requests / 1841 Census Soho Road - Richard Lloyd & family
« on: Monday 31 October 05 18:00 GMT (UK)  »
If anyone has the 1841 Census for Soho Road in the All saints area (what would be Handsworth today), if possible, could they do me a huge favour and see if they can find

Richard Lloyd, Head, c40, Ag Lab & his wife Frances Lloyd, c45 - both not born in county.

Possibly sons Richard & Thomas (my Gx4 Grandfather) and daughter Mary living with them - possibly other children - not 100% sure  ???

They are recorded as living at what looks like Fawdly's or Foundry's or maybe even Harding's Buildings on Soho Road on the 1851 Census.

See http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,102020.from0/topicseen.html#new

Any help - much appreciated  :)

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Soho Rd - Local Expertise Required!
« on: Tuesday 11 October 05 20:46 BST (UK)  »
I have been looking for Gx5 Grandparents for ages - Thomas & Frances Lloyd both born Shropshire. I have now found them on the 1851 Census living in Birmimgham not Shropshire as I had supposed! ::)

They are living on Soho Road in the All saints area - what would be Handsworth today (I think!)

They are living at what looks like Fawdly's or Foundry's or maybe even Harding's Buildings?? Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Thomas is also described as an Agricultural Labourer - was this area "rural" at this time??

Any advice or pointers to a local area history site that may be able to help would also be appreciated

Many thanks

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / 1851 Census Check - David Harris & Family
« on: Wednesday 21 September 05 13:30 BST (UK)  »
If someone has access to the images of the 1851 Census for Glamorgan can they please check the following family:

Census of Cyfarthfa
Piece: 2459
Folio: 644
Scedule: 155

Brecon Road
David Harris, Hd, 31, Shoemaker
Anne Harris, 40
Elizabeth Harris, 9
Sarah Harris, 7
Ann Harris, 4
David Harris, 9m
Hanah Harris, 67, VR

It's the place of birth for all of the above that I'm interested in. With the exception of Elizabeth (born Merthyr) & Hanah (born CMN) - all others have been transcribed as being born in Anglesey?  ???

Subsequent census listings indicate they were born in Merthyr or Carmarthen. Does the image actually say Anglesey or has there been a transcription error?

Many thanks  :)

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / John Harper Cradley 1841 & 1851 Look Up Please
« on: Monday 29 August 05 09:26 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to establish if there were 2 JOHN HARPERs born in Cradley Herefordshire in 1824, recorded there on the 1841 & 1851 Census. Harper appears to be quite a large "clan" in Cradley all living around the North Hill area.

A fellow rootschatter kindly found one John Harper living at North Hill, Cradley East with parents Benjamin (Ag Lab) & Sarah and a brother Henry (10) in 1841 & in the same location in 1851 with a wife Hannah (b Suckley, Worcs 1821) and daughter Sarah aged 1.

Is it possible someone could check to see if there is another John Harper same age living in Cradley in 1941 & 1851 and post any details please?

Trying to establish if my GX2 Grandfather was a bigamist or not!

Many thanks :)

Scotland / Margaret Biddle 1871 Census
« on: Friday 19 August 05 08:37 BST (UK)  »
I have found a Margaret BIDDLE, Widow - aged 82   , born "Scotland" as an Inmate at Clatterbridge Workhouse, Wirral Union, Poulton Cum Spital, Cheshire on the 1881 Census.

Desparately clutching at straws and hoping she may be related to my elusive Gx3 Grandfather, John Biddle (age & POB unknown!) who was recorded as being the father of my Gx2 Grandmother born in Birkenhead in 1866.

I can't find Margaret Biddle on the English 1871 or 1861 Census so wondered if she may still have been in Scotland in 1871  ???

Is there SKS out there who could check the Scotland 1871 Census to see if she can be found there? :)

Cheshire Lookup Requests / McDermott - 1851 Cheshire Census
« on: Monday 08 August 05 17:58 BST (UK)  »
I'm still trying to break down my Biddle/Biddles/Bythell brick wall  ::)

A John Biddle is listed as being the father of my Gx2 Grandmother (Labourer working in a sugar refinery) when she is born in Birkenhead in 1866.

Her mother is recorded as being Dinah Biddle nee McDermott on the birth certificate and as Maria Biddell on the 1871 Census (age 30 - born Dublin, Ireland)

Could someone check the 1851 Census for details of any Mary/Maria or Dinah McDermotts or John Biddell/Biddles/Biddle or even Bythells living in the Birkenhead area please (Sorry have no idea of John's age).

Peterbennett - I believe you checked the 1861 census but no joy. Just looking for any possibilities/leads in 1851 as I've no other ideas what I can do to track them down  ???

Many thanks

Hi there - not sure how feasible this is but is there any chance someone could look for John Perkin/s (born c1764 in county) and wife Ann Perkin/s (born c1767 in county) - living in Clifton On Teme ???

Burials are recorded for them at Clifton On Teme, Worcs - Ann in September 1841 and John in 1845 - hence my belief that they will be found there on the 1841 Census.

Details of any others in same household and occupations would be much appreciated.

Thanks  :)
