World War One / Samuel Robert Early London Regiment
« on: Wednesday 24 January 18 17:01 GMT (UK)  »
My daughter has a silver WW1 medal issued to the family of Private Samuel Robert Early of the London Regiment . It was found in a flat in New Cross occupied then by her husband who was then a student. A search at the time uncovered that he was killed in 1918, and had a son xxxxx Early and a grandson xxxxxx Early, unfortunately she was unable to re-unite the medal with its familial owners. If anyone knows Barry Leonard Early, or indeed xxxxx himself or a descendant, please contact me so that I can put him in touch with my daughter who will re-unite him with the medal.

Technical Help / Lost trash bin
« on: Tuesday 09 January 18 14:46 GMT (UK)  »
After a spectacularly horrid Windows 10 update after which my Laptop initiated and carried out the Lenovo automatic repair sequence, I believe that everything is back where it should be (!)  with the exception of the Trash Bin which has vanished. I have followed the sequence through settings, but to no avail. Can anyone assist please?

Lincolnshire / Is he the father of modern Lincolnshire?
« on: Sunday 26 February 17 17:09 GMT (UK)  »
My grandfather's eldest brother John Siesor Luffman (1818-1886)is shown as a "higgler" (self employed ploughman for hire) in the 1871 census. Unfortunately that does not seem to be the only service he hired out as a Y chromosome 37 marker DNA test has shown that there was at least one person in Lincolnshire in the right time frame (say 1840-1875 when he finally married) with whom I share 36/37 markers. Is there anyone else who can trace a previously undocumented line back to this period and area, Alford-Lincoln area with whom I could share the results of my test, just to try to establish whether this was a one off fling, or whether he was unofficial father of modern Lincolnshire? If so, please contact me by the Personal Message system. Thanks.

World War One / LT. Col Saint Cambridgeshire regiment
« on: Tuesday 14 February 17 18:41 GMT (UK)  »
I had a copy of a photo titled 'dug out where Saint was killed" but it was lost in a house removal. From marginal  notes in his copy of the regimental  history  I believe  my father was the signaller  mentioned  in the text. Though unlikely  I shall ever prove that I understand that at the end of the war copies of this and similar  photos were offered for sale to officers. And they  sometimes  appear. I would much appreciate  a copy or scan of the photo. Can anyone  point me in the right direction please?

Nottinghamshire / Glue works at Newark
« on: Monday 21 November 16 14:42 GMT (UK)  »
Over 50 years ago, which working in the railway accounts off at Lincoln I was told by the departmental head that he had invoiced two train loads of human bones from Yugoslavia to Newark for use in making glue. This occurred in 1947 approx, and was clearly an aftermath of some atrocity during or shortly after WW2. Does anyone have any detail whatsoever about when this took place?

Dorset / Larry Adler the harmonica man
« on: Thursday 27 October 16 15:14 BST (UK)  »
I understand that a hotel in Corfe Castle was opened by Larry in the early 1980s. He was apparently supported by the local MP Viscount Cranborne, and other dignataries. I believe a photo exists and would like help in finding it thanks.
