Technical Help / Ancestry Press
« on: Tuesday 15 April 08 02:45 BST (UK)  »
Have any of you used the Ancestry Press yet?  You need to have put some kind of tree on Ancestry first but then you can then put the information together in a book form.
Not sure that this is the right place to post my question.

Dorset Completed Look up Requests / Caroline Gardner Bridport look up completed
« on: Monday 31 March 08 03:19 BST (UK)  »
Caroline Gardner was born  abt 1815 in Bridport Dorset.  I have her living with her mother Sarah b abt 1781, brother George b. abt 1821 and sister Eve b. abt 1823 in the 1841 census living in Haselbury Plunknett, Somerset.
Caroline Gardner married Simeon Gillard in 1845 - father's name was Joseph Gardner.

If anyone has access to the Bridport parish records I would appreciate  information on Caroline and her family.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

« on: Saturday 06 October 07 02:57 BST (UK)  »
I would like to order the 1911  census for Derry from my local FHC but can't find Bond Street listed so not sure which one to order.

Anyone more familiar with the area who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.  If not hopefully someone at the FHC may know.

New Zealand Completed Requests / look up Joseph England Auckland/Waiuku completed
« on: Tuesday 18 September 07 02:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi
thanks to Papers past I found Joseph England living in Auckland in the 1850s  and making his living as a bootmaker.  He and his family later moved to Waiuku where he died in Jan of 1866.  Joseph's wife was Azenath England.  He had at least six children - John, Charles, Azenath Ann, Emma, Elizabeth and Joseph.

I see that some of you here have access to other records and I am hoping to find more information on  Joseph England and his family.  I did find  marriage records for three of his children and other bits of information on Papers past.

Thanks for any help you can give me

Not sure what to do next.  Have found what I think might be a relative on the  Index to Registers of Assisted British Immigrants 1839-1871 online at PROV.

She is Ann Gillard  age 22  date is Jul 1866 ship is Star of India
 Book 14a page 103
and another listing for this Ann in Book 14 page 341.

Is there anyone who can do a lookup for me.  If not is this information available to order from a Family History Centre?  Or.....??

Curiously enough last year when we were in San Diego we saw the Star of India in the San Diego Maritime Museum.

thanks for any help you can give me

Canada / Border crossing from US into Canada
« on: Wednesday 16 May 07 03:20 BST (UK)  »
Any one have any idea what border crossing immigrants coming from Minnesota to Saskatchewan would have used?

The choices are Willow Creek, W. Poplar river, Wood Mountain, East Poplar River, Big Muddy, Radville, Marienthal, North Portal and Northgate.  The National Library of Canada has the US/Canada border crossings on microfilm and you can inter library loan them.
The records available at Ancestry are only the crossings from Canada into the US.

I found the relatives crossing from North Dakota into Saskatchewan in the North Portal records and would really like to narrow my search for the relatives crossing from Minnesota.
thanks for any help you can give.

Canada Lookup Requests Completed / Ontario marriage Arthur Catchpole COMPLETED
« on: Monday 26 February 07 20:14 GMT (UK)  »
Just as my three free days on Ancestry ended I found  my Harriet Clayton on the 1901 Canadian census  living two doors down  from her daughter.   Harriet is living with  Arthur Catchpole, his wife and child and she is listed as mother.  I am pretty sure Harriet is not Arthur's mother and I haven't found a child named Annie living with Harriett in the 1871 or 1881 census.

But unfortunately although I found that there is a marriage listing for Arthur Catchpole in the Wentworth district  in the Ontario marriage records I was too late to found out who his bride was so I can solve this mystery.

Can anyone put me out of my misery?

Thanks for any help you can give me

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / pre 1837 birth/baptism request
« on: Monday 30 October 06 22:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Am looking for birth/baptism of John Phillips (needle in a haystack)
In the 1871 census he lists birthplace as Merthyr and birth date of 1814
In the 1881 census he lists birthplace as Gellygaer and birth date of 1815.
I can't find him with any certainty in any previous census.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
