« on: Monday 28 December 15 22:09 GMT (UK)  »
My research is mainly in Ireland and some England. I currently have a subscription with Find My Past and I'm wondering if I'd benefit from getting a subscription from Ancestry too? TIA

I'm thinking about getting dna testing done but don't know what company to use, any recommendations? Will the results just show the country your roots are from? How can I find family matches? TIA

Leicestershire / Patrick Smith - Arson
« on: Sunday 15 November 15 23:20 GMT (UK)  »
I have a newspaper article in Leicester 1873, indicating that Patrick Smith (born 1845) was imprisoned for committing arson. I would like to be able to corroborate this with a prison record that I have found on Find My Past. If anyone has access to this I would be very grateful.

Antrim / birth certificate of George James McAuley
« on: Saturday 19 September 15 20:50 BST (UK)  »
I have what I think maybe the birth cert for my Ggrandfather but now I'm second guessing myself and just want to make sure that it is correct. This is what I know according to documents:
*Marriage cert: married 1884 Age 20,(i.e. b. 1864) his father's name was James McAuley - Engine Driver.
*1891 UK census: age 24 (i.e. b. 1867), born Belfast
*1901 UK census: age 34 (i.e. b. 1867), born Ireland
*1911 UK census: age 44 (i.e. b. 1867), born England
*Death cert:1924 Died age 58 (i.e. b 1866)

I no longer have a subscription to Roots Ireland to double check for more births around these dates, with a father called James in Belfast. But, I do have a record that shows a date of birth for 1865, father James and mother Fanny Rice. How can I prove that this is the correct record? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mayo / Malley GRO marriage certificate
« on: Saturday 18 July 15 22:44 BST (UK)  »
I currently have a marriage record for my Malley relatives from Find My Past and Roots Ireland but they do not show their ages. If I were to order a marriage certificate from the GRP in Roscommon, would that show their ages at the time of marriage?  Thank you.

I'm considering purchasing a few cd's from http://www.bernieworld.net/CDs/wmpubs.htm regarding William Masterson Publications of baptisms and marriages. However, I don't know if the same records would also be found on Rootsireland.ie? Does anyone know?  Thank you.

Ireland / Mullins
« on: Saturday 13 June 15 23:49 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know where the name Mullins hails from in Ireland. My friend doesn't know the whereabouts in Ireland that his ancestors are from so thought this might be a good start.  Much obliged for any help.
