Kent / Pre 1841 Census documents for Thanet / Kingsgate
« on: Tuesday 20 October 20 04:39 BST (UK)  »
Do any Census documents exist before 1841 in the Thanet / Kingsgate area?
If so where would I find them?

Kent / SOLVED: Are John Henry Norton and Mary Norton from Thanet twins?
« on: Friday 16 October 20 14:16 BST (UK)  »
I have references to John Henry Norton and Mary Norton born on the same day and also christened on the same day.
Birth Date:  2 Feb 1804
Christening: 3 March, 1805

John Henry Norton

Mary Norton

If the two transcripts are correct then they would be twins

Although the next sibling born is named Maria Norton
Birth Date: 20 Oct 1805
Christening:  23 Nov 1806

It has been assumed that Maria and Mary may be the same person, and that there could be a mistake with Mary’s birth/baptism entries above.

Here it shows "Mary Norton" present at the death of her father Daniel Norton

The 1841 census shows Maria Norton married (surname Crump) and then there’s census’s 1841/51 which show Mary Norton living with her parents
Maria Crump - 1841 census:

Mary Norton – 1841/51 census:

I have not found the deaths of Maria or Mary yet

Is this enough evidence to be sure that Mary and John are in-fact twins.
And that Mary wasn’t a name variation of Maria in the family?

Or would I need to find the original transcripts of Mary’s and John’s baptism to be sure.

Any help is appreciated

For those wanting to remove/suppress halftone dots and patterns from photos, I came across this free plugin (for photoshop users) with a tutorial on how to use it.

http://ft.rognemedia.no/

It does a reasonable job. Here's an example I tried with an image of my late father.

The only adjustment I made after using the plugin was to adjust the curves - to boost the dark and light tones and see how much of the patterning was removed.

Kent Lookup Requests / Frances Mary Moore - Kingsgate 1800s
« on: Wednesday 07 October 20 14:09 BST (UK)  »
I’m researching Frances Mary Moore.

Married to John Henry Norton: 25 October 1834, St. Peters, Thanet, Kent, England

At this stage I don’t need information on France's married life or her children.

I’m after information on Frances before her marriage.

Baptism of Frances is almost certain to be 23 Aug 1812, St. Peter, Thanet, Kent, England.

Her parents: Edward Moor (Moore) and Frances Moore nee Levi.

The information I have for Frances Mary Moore:
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LZKC-J49

The information on her parents:
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/M3VT-VCZ
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LW4R-9ZG

Frances’s parents / siblings lived in Kingsgate at the Convent / Lodge from the early 1800s.
Census 1841 and 1861 confirm the parents and children living at the Kingsgate, although Frances Mary Moore was married in 1834.

This is my dilemma. I have the baptism that links Frances Mary Moore to her parents names. As well as her age given on census / marriage documents. But nothing that shows her living with her parents at Kingsgate before marriage.

So even though I’m almost certain these are France Mary Moore’s parents, I’d like to find a document and/or birth that links her to Kingsgate and the Convent with her parent.

To dismiss any doubts of Frances Mary Moore’s parents.
