Hi i have been trying to find my ancestor George Fitch who was a colonel in spanish army but served in the carlist war. Apparently according to british library there is a list of volunteers in the british legion who would have volunteered for the carlist war. I know my ancestor died in Madrid in 1882 active in Spanish Army but think he may have started here as not on the Military list in spain- checked on sat at british library. many thanks for any help anita

Hi my ancestor george Fitch born in 1808 was a colonel i the spanish army. he died at madrid in 1882 on 14th jyly and has a tomb errected in his honour. The british consulate general at madrid says in his letter that " you have probably researched colonal fitch`s service record but i dont understand the way to get this- have tried typing in archivo general militar de segovia indice de expedientes personales as they say but cannot seem to access any lists to check his name. Does anyone know how please many thanks

I just dont get this went to Guildhall on mon to get apprentiships advised by rootschat friends and guildhall says no apprentiship records here only at london met archives. Go there and can only get watermen and lightermen apprentiship for 1855 and none after 1800 for anyone else. advised looking up trade directories but couldnt work them Must be thick or something can anyone help?
