Census and Resource Discussion / Yippee!!!! I found Henry on 1871
« on: Tuesday 09 March 04 14:44 GMT (UK)  »
All the certification I had on grandfather Henry JAMES indicated his birth place as LONDON...such a small town.
The ages varied so I was not sure of the year.  The BMD index gave me about 20 possibles, which I had recently narrowed down to 6, and I was ready to request a general search from PRO.

Ancestry recently gave me 1871 for London and Middlesex, and BINGO.   There he was, with Mum, Dad and brother, age 2, born LAMBETH,SURREY.

The index has only 1 birth for Lambeth, so I have now been able to order his birth certificate.

Completed Census Requests / 1851 Norfolk Lookup -Norfolk - JAMES
« on: Friday 05 March 04 16:32 GMT (UK)  »
On all my current records, I find ONLY Norfolk as birthplace.
Hunting for Charles JAMES, b c 1828/29.
Parents: Edward JAMES, and Martha (nee Chapman)
By 1871, he was in Lambeth, Surrey, but I'm hoping he may still have been at home in 1851.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Dorset / Dorset marriages pre 1816
« on: Sunday 29 February 04 21:11 GMT (UK)  »
Thomas BAYLEY was born 1816, St. James, Poole, Dorset.  I have that baptismal entry.
In a mini- biography I was blessed to received, it states that his "parents died when he was about 5-6 years old and he was sent to Bristol to live with his grandparents."

In that regard, I found the death entry for his mother, Sarah, St. James, Poole 1821, but nothing at all for his father.

My question is, where would I look for marriage entries for St. James, Poole, probably between 1810-1816?
And a death for his father also between 1820-1830.

PS: Was Bristol in that time part of Gloucester or Somerset?

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Completed Census Requests / 1861 Lookup, Blackburn, Lancs for PARKINSON
« on: Thursday 26 February 04 20:28 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for:
PARKINSON, George, born c 1816, Blackburn
Elizabeth, wife, born c 1816, Blackburn.

On 1881 census, they were found at RG11, Piece 4189/96, Page 14, living at 38 Whalley Road, Blackburn.

I am hoping to find their children Ellen and Mary still at home.  This will enable me to confirm a marriage date.
Thank you.

Dorset / Brick Wall in Dorset
« on: Thursday 19 February 04 02:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have found a baptism entry for Thomas Adams Bayley 1816, in St. James, Poole, Dorset, Parents Sarah and Thomas Adams Bayley, brush maker.
In 1819, I found a death entry for Sarah Bayley, same area.
In a Methodist church published book, I found that young Thomas said "his parents died when he was 5/6 years old and he went to live with his grandparents in Bristol"
Any suggestions where to go next greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Valerie

Hello
I am searching for Thomas Adams BAYLEY/BAILEY, born 1842, Edinburgh, Scotland, who was in Harwich in 1872 for the birth of his son George Parkinson BAYLEY.
Also in the household would have been his wife, Mary and several other children.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
