Lanarkshire / JAMES CHARLES in GOVAN
« on: Saturday 27 January 24 23:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
I am trying to find the street that my family were living on.  I have a letter here from Feb 1885 when my GG Uncle was living at 107 Graham St.

I have not found them 1881 Census as yet.  James Charles died in 1886 and his wife an son were living in Elders Park St in 1891.

James states in his letter "We have a public park at our door presented by Mrs Elder of Messrs Elder and Co to the inhabitants of Govan".

James (and son James?) where employed by the Elders company.  Thanks for any help.  Regards Dianna

Hi Everyone I am doing research on the above couple who were in Philadelphia PA c 1820's at the time of the birth of one of their sons Charles Henry GRAY junior.

Charles H GRAY junior was married in Victoria Australia in 1861 and this is where I found the information on his parents and birth place. He states he was 38 years old

Charles snr is listed as a Soldier on his son's marriage certificate.  Any help in finding some details on the GRAY/WHITE family in the USA would be great. Kind regards Dianna from Australia

Derbyshire / JOHN THOMAS McDERMOTT
« on: Thursday 09 November 23 23:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
I am trying to find some details on the above who may have married an ADA F STORRY c1905!

It's a bit of a confusing family which I am trying to sort out.  John Thomas and Ada seem to have had three children who were perhaps born in England:-

1) ADA 1907-2001 Married Frederick Thomas KEOWN in NSW AUS
2) ANNIE 1909 -2002 Married name WADE (married in Aus)
3) MARGARET 1911-1989 (Married Hugh Leonard CATTELL NSW)

In 1911 John Thomas seems to be in NEW ZEALAND where he had an illegitimate son ie JOHN KENNETH Greaves-McDERMOTT with Rose A F GREAVES

I would like to find if possible any births of the three children of Ada and John Thomas firstly and hopefully any shipping records coming to NZ or Aus.

Any help would be very much appreciated.  Kind regards Dianna

Dublin / Mary McDONALD and Phillip DWYER
« on: Saturday 28 October 23 21:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
I am doing research on the above couple and hopefully I would like to find out more on Mary McDONALDS origins.

I was sent a "tree" from ancestry that stated Mary McDONALD was born in Fife Scotland 1734? and her mother Mary Ferguson was born in 1723.  I DON'T THINK SO!  Love those trees

This couple were living (at some stage) in CLARE ST DUBLIN at least in 1799 when their son in law HUGH VESTY BYRNE was arrested and taken to Kilmainham Gaol.  I am descended from Hugh and wife Sarah Dwyer Byrne via their 4th child Ann who was born at sea 1806 on the way to NSW

1796 - Possibly Sarah and Hugh married (Dublin) Sarah living?? Clare Street
1798 – Son Phillip born (He stayed in Ireland)
1798 – Rebellion broke out
1799 – Byrne arrested at Phillip DWYERS home. Hugh sent to Kilmaiham Gaol then Wicklow
1799 - An alternate marriage (suggested) of 26 May 1799 St. Nicholas Church! for Sarah and Hugh
1800 – Second son Michael born (aged 72) on mother Sarah's death certificate NSW 1872)
1806 -  Came to NSW as Exiles on the Tellicherry.

There has been a lot of research done over the years on Hugh Vesty Byrne and I fortunately have a lot of that which I am very grateful to all the wonderful researchers out there!

I would really love to know if there is anyway to find any records for the family in Dublin

As they are Catholic I know it is a bit tricky but hopefully some births/deaths/marriages/newspaper reports can be found.

Would the possibly be:-
A death/burial for PHILLIP DWYER or wife MARY nee McDONALD

A birth/baptism for SARAH DWYER born c 1778 Dublin (birth varies between 1774-1778)

Births of the children of Hugh BYRNE and Sarah nee Dwyer.

Any advice or help is very much appreciated.  Kindest regards Dianna

Charles and Alice BULLOCK were married in 1937 in Victoria.

Mr Gray was married in 1960 NSW aged 22 ( A soldier) living in Victoria Barracks. {Catholic}

Essex / JOSHUA PASFIELD/PASSFIELD
« on: Wednesday 06 September 23 04:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
I did research on the above back in 2015 and I would like to make another enquiry please.

JOSHUA  PASFIELD
B: Great Bardsfield Essex England b 1825
Bapt: 29.10.1826 Base child of MARTHA PASFIELD
D: APRIL 01 1879 ALBERGLASSLYN (Near Maitland NSW (HAVE OBIT) Australia
M: MARY BASSETT Born 1848 Essex England

I have this record which was kindly sent to me but I would actually like to see the entry if possible!
To expand on the marriage entry:

It is #78 in the register of Great Bardfield, Joshua is 22, single and where the fathers name would appear it says Illegitimate.
Mary Bassett is 21 and daughter of James Bassett
Witnesses are James Bassett (signs) and Elizabeth Gosett/Gowett.

Joshua and Mary Ann Bassett came to NSW as immigrants March 1851.  There daughter Martha apparently died on the voyage!

Mary Bassett was baptized at Finchingfield Essex 14 March 1830 as Marianne Bassett daughter of James and Lucy Bassett.

Any help finding the marriage certificate with the "illegitimate" entry would be great to see thank you.  Kindest regards Dianna

« on: Thursday 31 August 23 03:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
I am trying to find GRACE ALICE HENRY on the NSW Electoral roll please as her husband is only listed as "Cardy" in family notices.

GRACE ALICE died in Hopewood House Darling Point NSW in 1948 and I'm hoping to find her with her hubby on the rolls as I'm sure it will have his correct name!  I'm assuming "Cardy" is a knickname!

No marriage found for this couple as yet in NSW.  Her previous names are BEATTIE, FATCHEN, LORD.

Kind regards and many thanks Dianna
