There is an article by Matthew Connolly in Saturday’s Daily Telegraph about his research into his family history. In it he says that he inherited a manuscript pedigree of the Vernons, which was made in the early Victorian period, and bears the seal of one of the heralds of the day, but over the years he has identified a large number of errors in it. It was evidently used as the source for several printed accounts of the family, which in turn have been faithfully reproduced on the internet.

The Common Room / Increase in fees for certificates from local registrars

The fee for Birth Marriage and Death certificates issued by Superintendent Registrars is set to increase from £9 to £10 with effect from 1st April 2012. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2012/760/made

Over the years I have posted messages containing references to Hardwicke's 1753 Marriage Act. However when I do a search with "Hardwicke's 1753 Marriage Act" I get "no results found" but if I search with "Hard 1753 Marriage Act" I get all my previous posts. Why
