In 1851 on High Garrett? in Bocking, Essex there is a Sarah TRICKER/TUCKER/TRECKER.  Would it be possible to check the 1841 for this household.  Sorry about multiple last names but I've seen it misread repeatedly on various sites.  Thank you for your help!!  Dawn :)

Census and Resource Discussion / 1841 Census Index
« on: Tuesday 14 February 06 01:29 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if or when indexing for the 1841 England census may be completed?  Is it left up to the counties or is there a nationwide effort?  I am looking for a widow with children somewhere in the London, Hertsfordshire, etc. areas.  I just wanted an idea of how long I should put the search for her on the back burner.  Thank you all!  Rootschat is a fabulous sight!  Sincerely, Dawn :)

Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / TRICKER, ?, a widow with children in Herts. 1841???
« on: Sunday 12 February 06 13:58 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate the widowed mother and possible siblings of my g-grandfather Richard Tricker in 1841.  Richard and his family are found in Sawbridgeworth on Cock St.  I looked at British Origins in 1841 but they didn't have Hertsfordshire available.  Widow Tricker(would likely be at least 40 years old or more) may have remarried but maybe the children are listed as Trickers in the household.   Is the 1841 indexed or otherwise easier to find possibilities for my missing TRICKER family?   I am most likely wishing for too much in this post.  If I am could someone please advise me on what I am looking at in time and money if I have to approach HALS with a request such as this?? ???

Suffolk / Hadleigh(Tuddenham, Lavenham) Parishes????
« on: Sunday 12 February 06 00:30 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me identify which parishes I should be concentrating on in my search for records for Hadleigh and the surrounding areas????  I am looking for records for my TRICKER, William line.  His son Richard b. 1815, "near to Hadleigh","Tuddenham","Lavenham" according to various census.  The LDS library has an IGI record for Richard in 1815, son of William TRICKER and Sarah, in Hadleigh as well.  I don't know which parishes are in these areas.

Also where would I find the indeces for the 1841 census of Hadleigh and surrounding areas?  I am looking for Sarah, widow of William(d. prior to 1839) and family.  The LDS also has a record for Eliza TRICKER b. 1813, d/o William Tricker and Sarah, in Hadleigh as well.  I can't pinpoint where she might be so am unable to ask for a search.

If the parishes of Hadleigh have already been posted, as well as where to find 1841 census information, I apologize for overlooking somehow.  Thank you for your assistance and patience!  Dawn

Hertfordshire / TRICKER, Richard and Eliza decendants??
« on: Saturday 11 February 06 23:56 GMT (UK)  »
Richard TRICKER, b. <1815> in "near to Hadleigh"(other census' show Tuddenham, Ludenham, etc.), d. 1904, West Ham, Essex.  There is an IGI record of a birth/christening for a Richard Tricker, 26 Mar 1815, s/o William Tricker and Sarah, in Hadleigh.  There is another IGI record for an Eliza TRICKER, b/c 28 Dec 1813 for a William Tricker and Sarah in Hadleigh as well.

Richard  married Eliza Chapman in 1839 in Middlesex.  In 1851 Richard and Eliza are in Sawbridgeworth, Herts. with children:

Mary Ann b. 1842
Arthur      b. 1843
Reuben    b. 1844  (My g-grandfather)
William     b. 1846
Walter      b. 1850

Reuben TRICKER married Lydia E. Fryer 1870 in London.  The following children of Reuben and Lydia survived to adulthood and may have decendants:

My grandfather is
Albert Charles b. 1888, West Ham, Essex
d. 1976, Oregon, USA

Also surviving were:
Alfred Reuben b. 1878, Essex   d. <1954>
Mabel Gertrude b. 1882, Essex  d. <1958>
Maud Elizabeth b. 1873,             d. <1959>
Percy Valentine b. 1880, Essex   d.               , Canada
Louis Richard    b. 1884, Essex   d.

I am hopeful of finding others who may be researching this line of Trickers or possible connections.  Surprisingly Richard was not common given name among TRICKER families and Reuben is very rare.  When I started researching I foolishly assumed TRICKER was an uncommon name since I grew up in a state where 5 of 6 TRICKER families were related.  I was very surprised when I discovered just how many TRICKER'S there were in England.

Thank you for reading my post!
