Aberdeenshire / 41 Fraser Place, Aberdeen
« on: Wednesday 29 May 19 08:28 BST (UK)  »
I previously had asked if anyone had photographs of 44 Fraser Place, after the blitz in 1943 and someone kindly sent me a photograph, but after delving more into my families residence in 1943 I now discover that they were living at 41 Fraser Place which was also bombed to the ground.  Would anyone have photographs of this or can guide me to a site where I may see them. Many thanks

Aberdeenshire / Alford
« on: Thursday 07 February 19 13:05 GMT (UK)  »
In 1906 my great grandmother died in Menzies Road, Aberdeen.  She was born in Alford and her name is mentioned on a Reid(family name) in Alford Kirkyard.
Her widower was left with two boys and probably didn't have much money.
I am curious of how he managed to inform her family in Alford that she had died, and was her body transported to Alford.

Are the public allowed to go into the Registars office and search for births from 1901 to 1906, and is there a charge for this.

Aberdeenshire / Seaton Road school, Aberdeen
« on: Wednesday 25 July 18 09:17 BST (UK)  »
This is a shot in the dark, I started at Seaton Road school in 1944, my name was Elspet Reid, my brother was Donovan Reid, and I think the teacher at the time may have been a Miss Wilson.  I am sure we had school photos taken, but have never been able to contact anyone who may have any. Anyone out there who can help. Thanks

Durham / hospital archives

I had a great uncle who died in 1919 at Naval WD Ingham Infirmary, South Shields of Basal pneumonia, enteric.  I am at a loss to understand why he was there, when he was stationed at Cromarty on an ammunitions ship HMS Thalia during the first world war.
Any ideas

Aberdeenshire / Medical
« on: Thursday 19 April 18 07:30 BST (UK)  »
I had a great uncle, from Peterhead, who was in the Naval Reserve during WW1 and was stationed on HMS Thalia an amunitions ship, stationed at North Scotland somewhere.  He died in 1919 in a naval hospital in  England, cause of death, basal pneumonia, enteric.
On his marine death certificate which was a separate, one, it just states ~"disease"!
Has anyone come across this before. And why would he be in England and not a hospital in Scotland.
Any help would be appreciated.

Aberdeenshire / Uniform
« on: Wednesday 18 April 18 07:31 BST (UK)  »
I have a photo taken in Aberdeenshire, maybe Peterhead of a chap with a khaki uniform, ie jacket, and skirt, not a kilt with a khaki pouch or sporran on the front of the skirt.  Does anyone know what regiment he would have been in.  Any help would be appreciated.

Suffolk / Death notice/obituaries
« on: Friday 28 July 17 14:40 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the death notice/obituary for Arthur F Bines who died on 9th March 2016 and was cremated on 6th April 2016, at Gorleston, Norfolk.  I have had no luck with the Great Yarmouth newspapers, but Arthur F Bines, lived for many years in Lowestoft and wondered if there might be a notice of his death in one of their newspapers.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks
