Devon / Trooper James Guy McLaren Davey
« on: Thursday 19 December 13 17:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I would appreciate some help with the above subject. I am aware of how Trooper Davey died on the 30th December 1960.  He was in the army in 1960, the time of his death in London with the Household Division.   His parents were Frederick J and Bessie Mary, both passed away and they lived in the Torquay region. In 1965 when his mother died she was living at Sandford Road, Chelston.  That is all I have on his back ground.  I have received an email from a friend of his who served with him  and is in poor health and is trying to find where James is at rest because he would like to visit the grave to pay his last respects. He has tried all avenues to find him but he has been sent from pillar to post and got nowhere.   I suspect he may be with his parents or in the same burial ground somewhere near to his home.  Sorry for being long winded, but any help would be very much appreciated to let this old soldier say goodbye to his comrade.  Thanks.

Staffordshire / Cobridge Church WW1 War Memorials
« on: Friday 15 November 13 06:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have attached the names of the two world war one war memorial which are in Christ Church, Cobridge, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.  I am in the process of compiling information on the named men, but some have I have been unable to find any information about them. I have used the CWGC, What I am after is there any relatives of these men that can help. They could be anywhere in the country if he died in the war(s) and came from in or around Cobridge, I would like to hear from you The area where these men once lived is now void of dwellings, no hope of any help in this area.

Regards
Alf

Denbighshire / CAVANNA (Varients)
« on: Sunday 11 August 13 12:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am need of some help. I am collating the WW1 War Memorial in St Asaph Cathedral. There is a Louse CAVANNA (C1882) who is listed and he has gone AWOL.
In 1891 he is named as Louis Francis, with his parents Lewis and Ann at Llanllechid. 1901 I think I have him as Louis Kavanagh at Cefn as a cattleman. 1915 at Hawarden a Louis Cavanna died aged 32.  In the 1901 and  1911 his mother who was widowed in 1897 can not be found nor his brother John. Louis, after 1901, no sign of him, I have checked the CWGC,  and military sites on Ancestry, all negative. Any one related who may be able to help.

Can any person point me in the correct direction as to where I can find out about this football team.

I have a Private, Sidney Graham Creech who was killed in action who appears to have been a footballer for the asylum. He is commemorated on the Asylum war memorial which is now in Cheddleton Church.

Hi

I am need of some help.

I have taken a photo of his headstone which has the Royal British Legion logo on the top. This person is at rest in Sandbach Cemetery. Enquiries have been made with the branch secretary of the Sandbach Royal British Legion and it has been asertained that he served in the Royal Navy. It would be nice to find what ship(s) he served on and/or battles he fought in. I have uploaded the photo onto Military Images and would love to get more details on this gentleman, so he can be remembered.
This is the link to the photograph http://www.militaryimages.net/photopost/old-h-m-forces-deaths/p87633-breathen-2c-roy.html

Hi
I am trying to locate a Beard family who's roots are from Kettering, in order that I can complete this line. This male got married in Bakewell in 2004

His father was born in 1924, Kettering and his mother is from Lincolnshire.

His grandfather Cyril Charles Beard born 1895 and died 1977 was born Cromhall, Gloucestershire, which is not far from where I was born and bred. His grandmother Edith Mary Richards was from Kettering. Born 1887 and died 1974

If this rings a bell please get in touch
