« on: Thursday 23 November 17 11:02 GMT (UK)  »
I am sure that the parish records were available on line for free, being the result of a Duke of Edinburgh Award project. I have used it many times. I have just tried to find it again without success. Does anyone know if it has been removed
Please ignore, I have just found the records and they were for Oxhill, not Tysoe, I am getting very old!

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / William Knight
« on: Sunday 22 November 15 16:38 GMT (UK)  »
I have tried before but without any luck.
My 3XGGfather William Knight married Racheal Chrisdee 12 October 1807 at Holy Trinity Church, Millbrook, Southampton. This is the only proven fact I have on them. 1841 census shows them living in Millbrook and William is a Last Maker, he is 65 she 55 years old. I can not find their births or deaths. There was a William baptised at St Faith's Havant, but this proved not to be my man. I live abroad so cannot get to Winchester Records Office until latr next June. Any help would be appreciated.

The Common Room / Occupation?
« on: Friday 27 March 15 17:10 GMT (UK)  »
Los Conteros - what was the occupation, my Spanish dictionary only comes up with Metal Tip or Ferrel. A local Spaniard tells me it was someone who worked in the nearby silver mine, but cannot say what! Google seems to be stumped as is Google Translate. Any one know what the occupation was exactly?

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Cannot Find William's Dad
« on: Monday 16 March 15 11:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am stuck trying to find my 4XGrandfather's father.
William Knight was born circa 1776, believed in Hampshire as the family is all from the Southampton area. He married Racheal Chrisdee 12/10/1807 at Millbrook Paris Church.
1841 Census shows him living in College Road, in Parish of St Mary's a Last Maker aged 65.
His wife was baptised at St Faiths Church Havant. I thought I had found his father and his place of birth in the St Faith's parish records, but it turned out it was the wrong William. Any help ideas would be appriciated, living is Spain makes my research 'long range' until I return to UK for a summer holiday in July.

Would a last maker have been considered a skilled artisan and in early 1800s would he be self employed
