Lancashire / Missing ancestor

Hello all,

I am trying, to no avail, to locate the whereabouts of my husband's GG Aunt, Caroline Elizabeth Brooks. Caroline was born 06/11/1891 in Bootle. She was a twin and she was disabled however her disability is not listed on any of the censuses.

After 1911 Caroline doesn't appear in any electoral searches, however her twin Louisa Rickard Constable (nee Brooks) took out an insurance policy on Caroline in 1930 and she is listed as living with Louisa and Louisa's husband Thomas at 68 Adlam Road, Toxteth.

There are no other records for Caroline and I can't locate a marriage or death record for her. She seems to have just disappeared!

Please can anyone help me find her?

I am trying to discover which POW camp in Indonesia my GGG uncle was held in, but I can't understand the symbol on the document I have found, because it is in Japanese.

The Common Room / Ship Muster Rolls

Hi all

Please feel free to move this to a more suitable forum. I was stuck where to post it!

I am trying to locate the muster rolls for three ships for a research project, however, National Archives have said they don't have them online and want a small fortune to send them to me.

Does anyone else know where I can locate the rolls for the following:

Namur 1757
Charming Sally, 1762-1763
HMS Racehorse 1773

Australia / Peter Collenette death record

I have found a death record for Peter Collenette born 1833 in Guernsey and died in Adelaide in 1909.

I suspect this may be a relation but I can't check because I don't have world access on Find my Past.

Would it be possible for someone to check the information on Peter if possible please?

I am specifically interested in 3 addresses, from 1938 - 1955 and I am not local to the area so a trip to the records office isn't easy.

Armed Forces / British Army Service Record

Hello All,

I have managed to locate the death record for William J Brinkley in July 1915. No. 91581 82nd Bty, RFA.
He was buried in India, and from looking at his children's birth records he served in Ireland, then moved on to India around 1906/1907. His wife and children returned to Ireland via England but William seems to have remained in India up to his death.

I am struggling to locate his service records, or even medal card, despite him serving for quite a long time and wonder if anyone can assist in finding out what he did in Ireland, and in India if possible.

Lancashire / Bootle business in the 1960s

Hello All,

I have located the probate records for James William Patrick Andrew Brinkley, died March 1962 and his probate address is 41 Bankhall Street, L20.

I have had a look at the address and it is a street of Victorian warehouses, however I don't have a clue where to start looking for trade directories at the time of James' death.

Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can delve into his business further?

Hello all,

I have located the burial record for a James William Brinkley, born 1905, died 17 March 1962 at Edinburgh Close, Liverpool and also found the will for a James William Patrick Andrew Brinkley, born 1905, died 16 March 1962, also in Liverpool, but the probate record shows his address as Bankhall Street, Liverpool.

Is it possible that this is just an address error - I haven't found two records of death to suggest there is two of them.

Europe / Alien Arrival-document deciphering

Hello All,

I am trying to work out exactly where Francois Joseph Marais was native of. According to his alien arrival form he is native of Clemmburg-but an internet search makes me doubt this is a place!

I am unable to decipher the handwriting and wonder if anybody could please help translate what it says!
