G'day.......    The Wilcock family had  a property  called NEW SPRINGS  at    Whittle le Woods,  just north of Chorley.      We believe it was a working farm at that time,  but information about it is very hard to come by.
Location ,  or  any general information about this property or this  area  would be greatly appreciated.          Thanks   Brian.

Lancashire / Wilcock in Melling, or Wray
« on: Thursday 19 October 06 08:22 BST (UK)  »
All of the Wilcocks inthe Wray area seem to disappear.     There are generations of Wilcocks  born and Christened in the Wray / Melling area between  1560 and 1750  ( roughly).     Many of these were  christened in the Melling parish Church  (  St Wilfred's)   but there are no further records of them.    The church has NO record of any  Wilcock burials,  either family or individual.
On a recent visit to the area, we were not able to expand on this,   althuogh we were told by a local that althoughthese may have lived in the Wray area, they would have been buried in Melling.        BUT,  no trace.
Am I doing something wrong?    Is there a trick to this?        any info would be appreciated.
Brian.
