Occupation Interests / Black for collier?
« on: Saturday 04 July 09 20:05 BST (UK)  »

The parish registers for Prescot in Lancashire have in the notes 'a Black' for someone who is elsewhere is down as a collier.

Has anybody come across the use of 'black' for collier?

If anybody is looking at the Westminster St James christenings for 1813, could they check for:

I'd be interesed to know whether  the  father's occupation is included.

Thank you

Hoping to find Matthew and Margaret and family, and where they were born...
