Essex Lookup Requests / Freereg transcriptions for Maldon All Saints
« on: Wednesday 06 April 16 23:08 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone happen to know if the transcription for the baptisms for 1690-1699 and 1700-1709 is complete, or how I might find that out? The site tells me how many have been entered, but not if that's all of them, and I still have three people missing who ought to be there.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Chappel in Lewes
« on: Wednesday 30 March 16 23:20 BST (UK)  »
Looking for a baptism for Robert Chappel who was born about 1775 - a note on his marriage record says 'from Lewes, Sussex'. No hits on ancestry, familysearch or freereg under any obvious variant of his name. Any help appreciated, even if it's only to rule out Lewes completely as a birthplace :)

London and Middlesex / Transportation
« on: Monday 28 March 16 00:51 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out more about a chap who was convicted for theft at the Old Bailey in 1754 and sentenced to seven years of transportation. I have looked him up on the Nat Archives but there's no record of an appeal that I can find, so it looks as if he probably went, and from wikipedia it looks like at that date, he would have been sent to America. Does anyone have any idea where in America he would have been sent, or if it's possible to find that out, or get any more details about it?
Many thanks!

Huntingdonshire Lookup Requests / Godmanchester lookup request 1807
« on: Saturday 26 March 16 19:55 GMT (UK)  »
Found a baptism for elusive relative Louisa Chappel in the 'select births and christenings' index on 26 Jun 1807 in Godmanchester, Huntingdon. Only problem is, no parents are listed! I'd be very grateful if someone could check the register for me and see what it says.
Many thanks  :)

Rutland Lookup Requests / Bastardy order, 1806
« on: Saturday 26 March 16 01:34 GMT (UK)  »
If anyone has access to the bastardy books for Rutland, I'd be very grateful if you could check to see if there's an order concerning a Mary Chapple and her 'natural' son John Hales Chapple, who was baptised on Sep 28 1806 in North Luffenham. I would very much like to know who his father was.
Many thanks!

Armed Forces / Napoleonic Wars
« on: Saturday 19 March 16 20:07 GMT (UK)  »
I have a London-born relative who completely disappears from record after the age of 14 (in 1798), when he was apprenticed - no marriage or death under any possible permutation of his name in the UK. He had a brother and a cousin, also from London, who mysteriously married in Chatham, home of a naval shipyard, having no other connection with the place. I am very ignorant about the war, but I know there was one going on at the time - is it possible he could have joined the navy and been killed? And are there any relevant records that might be worth looking in for him?
Many thanks for any help!

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Waide in Hull (Holy Trinity?)
« on: Saturday 19 March 16 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for baptisms for what I think are the two sons of Benjamin Waide of Hull. He was surgeon to the garrison from 1702, was succeeded in his post by son Blanchard Waide in 1712, and then Benjamin Waide junior took over in 1722. Ben Waide senior was married to Hannah Blanchard in 1686 at Holy Trinity, Hull, for which I found a partial list of baptisms online - but neither of the sons were listed. I'm guessing they were born not long after the marriage, so maybe Blanchard 1687 and Benjamin 1689? Very grateful for any help. :)
