Lanarkshire / Robert Jamieson (Glasgow merchant)
« on: Thursday 06 January 11 19:03 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for any information about one of my ancestors: Robert Jamieson. All I know so far is that he was probably born around 1780, he had only one daughter Ellen (b.1809)  but he may have had sons too. He was a merchant trading both in Glasgow and Liverpool. I think one of his business partners was Joseph Ridgway (Jamieson Ridgway & Co and Ridgway Jamieson & Co).His daughter Ellen married Joseph in 1840 at St Judes in Glasgow. Any leads greatly appreciated.  Regards Cleo.

Family History Beginners Board / How to search Census records with an address
« on: Monday 25 October 10 14:10 BST (UK)  »
There's probably a simple answer to this, but does anyone know if there's a way of searching the Census records using just an address (i.e. not using a name)? Advice welcome. Cleo.

Lanarkshire / Ellen Jamieson b.1809
« on: Thursday 14 October 10 18:47 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out if Ellen Jamieson (b.1809 Gorbals) was married prior to 1840. When she married in 1840 in Gorbals (to Joseph Ridgway) she was Ellen Jamieson, but I suspect she may have been married prior to this (possibly maiden name was Lyenburn - but no certainty about this). Any help very welcome. Regards Cleo.

Graveyards and Gravestones / Ridgway/Vasconcellos tomb in Ford's Cemetery, Liverpool
« on: Wednesday 03 February 10 14:31 GMT (UK)  »
My gg grandmother Cleonice Ridgway, (nee Smith de Vasconcellos) is buried in a tomb in Fords cemetery in Liverpool along with her mother Francesca Smith de Vasconcellos and son Joseph Ridgway. I think they called the tomb the Vasconcellos family tomb. I visited it a year ago only to find that it was virtually a ruin. The plot is  number 577 and 578 in Fords. I believe the tomb was quite large and that there was a newspaper article about it about 20 years ago. A bit of a wild card but I wonder if anyone can offer any info or pics about the tomb. I believe it was probably vandalised, often used as a small shelter and  I suppose the newspaper article may have been about this .......... Any info gratefully received.

Renfrewshire / Ellen Jamieson marriage abt 1820-30
« on: Sunday 27 December 09 19:29 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to track down any record of my ggg grandparents marriage. I believe my ggg grandmother Ellen Jamieson (b. 1809 Glasgow)) married between 1820 - 30. She married Joseph Ridgway of Lymm in Cheshire. They had a son Frederick J Ridgway in 1826. She would have moved to Cheshire on marriage and later moved abroad to Brazil as her husband Joseph was a merchant  registered in Brazil in 1840. Can anyone offer any ideas of records that could be accessed? Very grateful for advice. :)

I'm trying to find info about my ggg grandfather who was born in Lymm in 1807. I'm trying to locate any details of his father and mother. He moved away from Lymm and lived in Brazil (he was a merchant), later returning to Liverpool where he died in 1882. Any info gratefully received. :)
