Glamorganshire / Prisoner in Adam Street Prison 1901
« on: Friday 23 December 11 02:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Joseph Barnes was a prisoner in the Adam Street Prison, Cardiff, according to the 1901 census. His age and place of birth suggest that he may be related to me. Is there any way I can find out any further details about him, from e.g. prison records or his original trial, that may identify him further?

Suffolk / Bury St Edmunds Town Sergeant
« on: Friday 23 December 11 01:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
In the 1871 to 1891 Census for Bury St Edmund's, Henry Hayhoe, my g.g. uncle, was described as Town Sergeant. At this time, would the role have been largely ceremonial or would there still have been some law enforcement element?

Kent Lookup Requests / Marriage of John Bushell at Maidstone All Saints 2/1/1837
« on: Saturday 17 December 11 02:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
FamilySearch indicates that John Bushell married Ann Shepherd at Maidstone on the 2nd January 1837. Additional on line checks suggests that it was at All Saints Maidstone. Unfortunately neither gave any other details such as the parents names or father's occupation which will help me confirm if they are my g g grand parents.
Can anyone please help?

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / 1841/1851 census - Shepherd - Robert Street, Gravesend
« on: Wednesday 26 January 05 00:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I wonder if someone would be kind enough to look up for me, if Mary Shepherd was still living at 8, Robert Street, Gravesend during the 1841 & 1851 census.
She was named as the informant as "occupier of the house" in 1838 for the birth of Mary Jane Bushell and is possibly the child's grandmother.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards

Hello, I wonder if someone would be kind enough to look up for me, if Robert Offord and Elizabeth Hayhoe were still living at 10 & 15 Church Walks, Bury St Edmunds in the 1861 census.

The Hayhoe family were living at No 15 at the time of both the 1851 & 1871 census, but the Offord family although living there in 1851 had moved to 7 School Hall Lane Bury St Edmunds by 1871.

Robert Offord married Elizabeth Hayhoe in Hackney, London in 1867 although their parents continued to live in Bury St Edmunds. Robert was a seaman at the time of his marriage and I would particularly like to find out what his occupation was in 1861. I am hoping this may give a clue as to why they moved and married in London.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Bob
