« on: Saturday 05 June 10 14:11 BST (UK)  »
you find a record with a street name   but you dont know the parish or ward for  finding information  on other sites.  well here is a fantastic page for cross ref  street ,area, parish and ward

http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lennan/len008.htm

If you can, i would recommend you use the pdf file. as this  allows you to do a word seach  and speeds things up so much.

this information   was compiled  from 1888 directory  and i`m currently using it for the 1901/1911 census in dublin

Note : this link is now included in the DIRECTORIES & STREET INDEXES topic, which is 'stickied' at the top of this section

« on: Sunday 30 May 10 10:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi would it be possible to find  a James Hawkshaw  he trained as a solicitor from 1840    His father   John Hawkshaw was a woolen drapper in Frances street  at this time . John died in 1841 how ever i have found that business was still in frances street under john hawkshaws name   in 1846.
i have found a record for james Hawkshaw esq  being at 41 Heylesbury 1850.  if you could find any entries in the 1848  directory would be great

you could also help with the 1863

ok a little family History   whilst being a solicitor he was approached by english goverment to do a job He said his conscience wouldnt allow it   so he left the bar  and i`m told became the night editor for the irish times
He died in 1865   at 82 upper george street  (Kingstown) Dun laoghaire

any help would be gratefully  received

  kind regards
