Family History Beginners Board / HIBBETT/ITT/IT/ET/ERT

LUKE HIBBETT born c. 1820

I am going to stick with the spelling of HIBBETT even though there is evidence that it could be HIBBITT / IT / ET / ERT.

I am looking for the family of Luke HIBBETT, my 2nd G. Grandfather.
I have proof in certificates, BMD’s and Census to substantiate my connection to him.

Luke was born c. 1820 (location unknown) and died 18 Jul 1852 @ Cripplegate aged 32.
He married Mary Ann Law born c. 1820 on 16 Jul 1839 @ Northhampton in the parish of St Sepulchre.
Mary Ann died 13 Jun 1850 in St Pauls, Deptford aged 30.

In the 1841 census Luke and Mary were living in Banbury Rd, Lords Hold, Oakham with their daughter Emma aged 1.
They had a son George Luke HIBBETT 05 Mar 1844 @ Lords Hold, Oakham.
I have not attempted to track down Emma yet but George Luke is my G. Grandfather.

The fact that Luke’s parents died so young seems to put George with his Aunt Mary @ 8 years of  age in the 1851 census @ Braunston Rd, Lords Hold, Oakham.

What I am trying to find is Luke HIBBETT’S father.  His marriage certificate states his father is Matthew HIBBETT a farmer.

Using the trees of others I have tacked Luke onto a family that I feel is the only place he can fit.  Studying all the Matthews and their ages it is my belief that Luke’s father died in 1839 (the year of Luke’s marriage).  There were 2 Matthew HIBBETT/ITT’s died that year.  I have the certificate for both but there is nothing to say on them that they were Luke’s father of course.

I have made him the 1st child of Matthew HIBBETT born 17 April 1796 in Rutland. and Jane Bott born c. 1797 in Cottersmore, Rutland.

The other trees I have studied with this family all have a Mary born 1822 as Matthew and Janes 1st child.  Matthew and Jane were married in 1816 in Exton. I find it hard to believe they would have waited 6 years before having their first child. Hence I believe Luke may have been the 1st.

:-\ Finally – what I am seeking is evidence that Luke was the 1st child of these people If he is then the Aunt Mary that his son George was with in 1851 would have been George’s Great Grand Aunt born in 1766.

I have tried to let you know all the info I have leading up to this conclusion and would be so grateful if there is someone out there who can tell me I’m on the right track.

Thankyou in anticipation  ::)

Family History Beginners Board / Just discovered

Hi all, I've been plodding away at my family history for a couple of years now.  How come I haven't discovered RootsChat.com ???  I am researching heaps but concentrating on HIBBETT/ITT/IT at present.  I think I have pushed down a brick wall but, apart from travelling from Oz to UK I am unable to confirm my suppositions.  Unfortunately I have to sign off now but I will be back, as from a brief scan of this site, it looks like there are some who can do look ups for free on parish records etc.  This would save me a trip to the UK :o.  I do have quite a lot of info on this family name but having trouble finding where my 2nd G.Grandfather fits into someones family.  I'll be back later - barring any more interruptions.
Cheers Dawn
