They married in 1892 and had three children (that I have found).
John Willie  b 2/3/1895  (Dudley Jun 6c 63), Benjamin James jnr.  b 1897 (Dudley Jun 6c 90) who died 3/6/1913 (Wolverhampton Jun 6b 704) and Reginald  b 16/9/1904 (Wolverhampton Dec 6b 646). The 1901 census shows the whole family of five. The 1911 census shows Benjamin James snr. with his three children whilst Emily is on a hospital census where it states she had four children of which one had died. Can anyone please help me find their dead child?

Family History Beginners Board / Where is John Willie Gregory buried?
« on: Tuesday 18 July 23 16:11 BST (UK)  »
John Willie Gregory was born 1895  (registered in Dudley) and married Florence Gertrude Southam in Luton, and they lived in Wolverhampton. John Willie was a railway guard. Florence died in 1927. He re-married after her death to Sarah Ann Dunning in 1928 (Wolverhampton Mar 6b 728). He died on the 14/9/1941 in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire (Crewe Sep 8a 535). The death certificate confirmed that he had died in a railway accident, from a broken neck, and he was a passenger, not at work. The official report of the accident told us that John Willie had been travelling in a passenger guard’s van on his way to work, probably talking to the on-duty guard. The train was just moving off from a signal and was travelling at about 5 miles per hour when another train ran into the back of them.
One other point is that he was baptised as John Willie Gregory and all the documents while he was alive call he John Willie (birth and marriage certificates) but after his death the documents call him John William Gregory eg. his death certificate and probate administration, Birmingham 1st November to Sarah Ann Gregory widow.
My problem is that I can’t find where John Willie is buried, would it be in Holmes Chapel or Wolverhampton? Can anybody help me find his grave?

Stephen Gibbins – born 1877 (Barrow upon Soar Dec 7a 157) to Stephen Gibbins and Emma Gibbins (nee Hartopp). I can find him in the 1881 and 1891 censuses living with his parents but no trace of him after that. There was a marriage between a Stephen Gibbins and Annie Maria Clarke in 1899 (Sep Leicester 7a 503) but without the marriage certificate I can’t prove it is the same Stephen Gibbins. Even if it is, what happened to him after that?

Family History Beginners Board / birth of Julia Martin (nee Harrison)
« on: Saturday 08 July 23 14:19 BST (UK)  »
Julia Martin (nee Harrison) – I can not find any record of when she was born, can anyone help. The following is what I know.
She was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire possibly in December 1862 (calculated from the age given in the 1921 census) and baptised in Sedgley, Staffordshire on 2/12/1866. Julia was raised by her aunty Nancy at Gospelend farm although all he siblings lived with her parents. The family story tells that Aaron Martin went to work at the farm and fell in love with Julia. They ran away to Stafford and got married at the age of eighteen on 6/12/1880 at St Mary’s church, Stafford (Stafford Dec 6b 35). She had 10 children with Aaron. She died 6/2/1937 (Cannock Mar 6b 581) aged 74 and was buried at Bushbury cemetery.

Family History Beginners Board / Ellen Gregory (formally Parrett, nee Press)
« on: Wednesday 05 July 23 13:03 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have a photo of Ellen I could have a copy of? She was born Press in 1887 in the Wolverhampton area and married George Parrett in 1914 in Wolverhampton. She had 4 children, Norman (1915) Ellen M. (1916) and twins Marjore and Norah in 1918. George died in 1918. Ellen re-married in 1930 to Benjamin James Gregory and was still living in Wolverhampton in 1948. I have a photo of Benjamin James Gregory but I am not sure if he is with his first wife (Emily who died 1929) or with Ellen. A photo of Ellen would help me with the problem. Thank you in advance

I have been told that there is a gravestone at St. James, Hill, Sutton Coldfield for Ann Heatley who died 30/5/1877. Is there someone who could kindly take a photograph of the headstone for me. I live in Lancashire and can not get down there myself. I would be most grateful.

Lancashire / Death of John Rutherford from Liverpool
« on: Tuesday 07 July 15 16:55 BST (UK)  »
I can't find the death of my GG grandfather, John Rutherford from Liverpool born c1826. In the 1861 census he was living with his family (wife Ann, 3 children and mother-in-law, Catherine Wilkinson). The 1871 census shows Ann (as wife and married), 5 children and mother-in-law Catherine, but no mention of John Rutherford and does not show anybody as 'head' of household. The youngest child, Andrew Ward was born 1864. On his son John's marriage certificate in 1879 it is shown that father is deceased. I calculate that my GG grandfather must have died between 1863 and 1879. I ordered the death certificate for a John Rutherford who died West Derby in 1865 but it was the wrong one. Can anyone please help me to move forward with this puzzle?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / lookup marriage of John Rutherford in Liverpool
« on: Friday 23 April 10 10:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi, can anyone help? John Rutherford was married to Ann Wilkinson (census 1861 RG9 2707 page 2)  but I can't find their marriage anywhere. I have looked at the possibility of Ann being married before, and a possiblitiy is she married either Isaac Jones or Joseph Jones 1844 September Qtr West Derby and then married John Rutherford as Anne Jones 1845 December qtr West Derby. Can anyone find proof that this is correct or incorrect.

Thank you in advance.
