Hello. I tried searching the forum, but no luck, so I hope that this hasn't been dealt with before, and I missed it.
I am tracing an ancestor, Mary Norris, who was born in Hereford, according to all of the census entries (1841 - 1871) in Bristol. Her estimated date of birth vary from 1804 - 1807, and in what I think is here death entry (where she is now Mary Ann Norris), even 1803. I am trying to find her maiden name, and tracked down a marriage in 1835 in Bedminster (Bristol), of George Norris to Ann Brewer. Mmmm .... it fits with the children's dates, but the name ...
I found a Mary Brewer, born in Ross, but in 1809, so a bit late. Here mother was an Ann.
So, how likely is any of this, and which is more likely to be wrong, place or date?
All in all, a bit of a mess. I would appreciate some advice from you experts on how to tackle this type of situation. I use findmypast, but they don't have Herefordshire parish records, yet. I used IGI, which is where I found the 1809 entry.
I often go into overload, I think, and wish I had an easy way to be more focussed. I have downloaded hundreds of BMD and census files, but keeping track of them ... I recently changed genealogy software, and the files didn't transfer across, so I have a lot of catching up to do.
Thanks for reading this! Any thoughts welcome!
