Ireland / Roberts family of Downpatrick
« on: Tuesday 18 September 12 08:13 BST (UK)  »
Searching for descendants of Roberts family, in the 1901 census living in Stillorgan, but in 1911 Amelia (mother) had remarried Robert Nixon and was living in Downpatrick with her youngest son, Edward. Another son, John, a groom in 1911 lived in Newcastle.  He was killed in World War 1 while serving with the North Irish Horse.  I would love to hear from anyone with a connection to this family.

Down / John McGuigan of Newry
« on: Monday 01 November 10 05:35 GMT (UK)  »
My father Francis McMahon of Newry enlisted on the outbreak of World War 1 with his friend John McGuigan.  They joined the North Irish Horse Regiment but apparently became separated when my father was transferred to the Royal Irish Fusiliers later in the War.  I would be very pleased to learn something of John McGuigan's family and what became of him - I believe he was a compositor.

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / World War 1 soldiers' descendants
« on: Monday 09 August 10 08:10 BST (UK)  »
I believe that some men from Jersey and Guernsey fought in World War 1.  I am assisting in adding to a webpage about the North Irish Horse, gathering photographs of these soldiers and would appreciate hearing from descendants who may be able to help.  I know that John Malorey of La Motte, St. Martins was one such man, killed on 16/8/1917.  Hoping for some positive replies, Patricia Tardif in Australia.
