Lancashire / Tomlinson in Lytham
« on: Thursday 31 August 17 23:52 BST (UK)  »
I believe that the Lowther Gardens in Lytham were laid out by an employee of the Clifton Estate. He is referred to just as "Mr Tomlinson" in the histories of the gardens that I can find online. Can anyone help me with the full name of this person. I am interested to see if it might be a relative.

Flintshire / John Davies b 1794 Llanrwst
« on: Saturday 26 November 16 16:21 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any information about John Davies b 1794 +/- 3 in (or near) Llanrwst. In particular I am trying to get to earlier generations. He was first found in Arddynwent (South of Mold Flintshire) in 1840 Census. In 1851 he is at Penrallt Farm (near the Clwyd Gate on the A494) and in 1861 he's at Ffynnon Y Berth. (near the A494 and B5430 Junction) North of Llanarmon Yn Ial. He is not to be found  in later censuses but his children have scattered. They include Hugh Davies b 1831 and James b 1837 who are farming at Waen Y Balls, Flint Mountain in 1871. I think John's wife was Elizabeth. The censuses have her born in Holywell or Treuddyn so it could be 2 different Elizabeths. A possible birth for John is in 1794 (Bap. 31 Aug) to David & Margaret, but I have no proof that this is MY John Davies. That name in Llanrwst is a bit like looking for a blade of grass in a hayrick. Any connections or help much appreciated.

Denbighshire / Where is Rhyd Loyw ?
« on: Friday 28 June 13 22:59 BST (UK)  »
My ancestors include a family (Father Robert Lewis b 1741) where some (6) children were born between 1772 and 1786 at a place called Rhyd Loyw at Cerrigydrudion. I cannot locate that place on any map or find any reference to it elsewhere.  :(  Can anyone help please?  Younger children were born at Pant Y Griafolen, Park, Llechwedd Llyfn and Craig Erchen all of which I have found.

The father Robert was born at Nant Y Rhyd, Cerrigydrudion which is another place I can't find; Help again !!  :)  The mother was Margaret nee Davies born at Ty'n Y Gilfach. (That one I have !!)

Thanks a lot  John
