Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Help Needed
« on: Saturday 08 April 06 18:15 BST (UK)  »
I have a problem and would welcome any advice.
A precious photograph has been in a frame for many years and I  noticed a mark in the middle of the photograph, so thought I would take it out of the frame and clean the inside of the glass. To my dismay I find that the photograph is stuck to the glass and I am unable to remove it. Is there any way I can ease the photo from the glass without damaging it? It is an original in black and white and I don't have another copy.

Armed Forces / Help needed.

I have an ancestor who shows up on the 1861 census as being a Private in the 2nd Battalion, 17th Regiment of foot. Camp Shorncliffe Cheriton Kent.
Does this mean anything to anyone? I am wondering if being in Folkstone they were due to embark to some war zone.
I can't find him in 1871 and wonder if he died in battle somewhere.
Appreciate any information

The Lighter Side / Put me right please

Have been making a childs outfit for a' Victorian Day' at my grandaughters school. They have all to dress up as Victorian working children. Managed a black skirt, white blouse and an apron, even crocheted a shawl with a fringe. But now my problem is what did mill girls wear on their heads whilst working to keep their long hair away from the looms? I have made a white mob cap, but now I am not sure it would be authentic.
What do you think, any suggestions? I only have today to complete the outfit.

Did anyone else have this message? It seemed strange to me that after warning you about a virus they seemed to be encouraging you to search. Or am I missing something?
