Westmeath / Locke family
« on: Thursday 26 October 23 10:38 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for information on 2 daughters born in Ireland. Their Father John Locke owned the Old Kilbeggan Distillery and was married to Mary Edwards, (Muds), born 1863, died 1943 in County Westmeath Ireland.

The information I want to find out is what happened to the 2 daughters, Florence and Mary Evelyn. I think one married a soldier and the other someone from the rugby club and also one of them moved to America/Canada. That is about what I know of them.
I have checked:
Ellis Island and Other New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957, FamilySearch
Census of Ireland 1901/1911 and Census fragments and substitutes,
1821-51
Irish Genealogy. IE

Any help would be appreciated

Donegal / Iskaheen graveyard old
« on: Friday 28 October 16 16:35 BST (UK)  »
I recently found from IrishGraveyards.ie web site, what I believe is the grave of my great-grand parents John and Elizabeth Porter along with their daughter Sarah on the Iskaheen Graveyard Plot No. 54 Section Old. Also buried there are:

James Heaney died November 1934, Hugh Porter died December 1935, James Porter, Thomas Porter died March 1922, Lawrence Porter

I know Elizabeth died 29 Dec 1931 in Iskaheen age 71 and Sarah 22nd Dec 1898. John I have no death dates I estimated it after 1911, The 1911 census has him aged 68.
Does anyone have any more information on this grave and any information on the other names buried there as I know John was an only child and that maybe Hugh Porter was at the same school as my grandfather Robert Porter; Carnamoyle National School, Muff, which I gathered good information from Donegal Genealogy Resources on the Porters. I don't know who the others are and why they should be buried there.

Any help would be appreciated

United States of America / Wilson family, Philadelphia
« on: Wednesday 29 December 10 14:07 GMT (UK)  »
I’m looking for any information on Robert Wilson who moved to Philadelphia possible from Greenock, Scotland, Abt 1920/30s. Two possible birth places: Greenock; Donegal? I don’t know his wife’s name but he had a dau called Sarah born in Philadelphia; I don’t know of any other children. I thing his father’s name was William. Other relations which may even be brothers and sisters are:

MARY ANN WILSON,
ROBERT WILSON, b. Unknown; d. USA.
JEANETTE WILSON, b. Unknown.
REBECCA WILSON, b. Unknown.
SARAH WILSON, b. Unknown.
MARION WILSON.
JOHN WILSON died WW1

I know they stayed in Greenock and that Robert and John were stationed (WW1) at Fort Matilda, Greenock. I’ve tried the LDS/Scotlandspeople but found nothing and without a wife’s surname makes it more difficult to find a connection.

I’ve included some pictures; maybe a Wilson out there will recognize them?

Any help would be appreciated.

United States of America / brickwall George f Welsh family
« on: Tuesday 07 December 10 14:09 GMT (UK)  »
This is my brickwall regarding George f Welsh family. He married Bridget Burns, (great Aunt) daughter of Michael Burns and Mary Ann Wilson. Bridget was born 18 Aug 1867 in Mullanaghy, Muff or Kilderry and I believe they both died in USA .I have photos of the family and of his son’s wedding George in USA.

I think George F Welsh was born in Ireland. I can’t find a marriage to Bridget so they may have married in USA; I do know that she signed my grandmother’s birth certificate in 1886 so was resident in Kilderry at that time. I have no idea when they went to USA.

Children of George Welsh and Bridget Burns are:
1.   George Welsh, b. USA; m.? 16 Nov 1919, USA.
2.   James Welsh, b. usa.
3.   Marie Welsh, b. usa.
4.   Francis Welsh, b. usa.

Any information would be of great help

Joe
