Lancashire Lookup Requests / Family grave O'BRIEN
« on: Friday 15 January 10 20:55 GMT (UK)  »
Soe time ago someone kindly found the grave of my Catholic grandparents at Ford Cemetery. I sent for details and the details I got back were invaluable.
This was some time ago and now I have discovered through the 1911 census other relatives in the family both of whom died in the 1919 flu epidemic.  This indicates that there is a second family grave but I dont know how to go about finding it.
There was Christopher O'Brien born 25/12/1910 died 22/02/1919 aged 8. He died in the Walton Institution Infirmary. His aunt who lived at 25 Elizabeth Road Orrell died 16/02/1919. I think  Christopher lived at the same address as this is where I found him in the 1911 census.  Finding the family grave would hopefully help fill in so many unanswered questions about the rest of my family.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Liverpool Records office O'BRIEN
« on: Friday 15 January 10 20:35 GMT (UK)  »
My grandmother Ann O'Brien had an illigitimate son Thomas and I have been unable to track down the birth certificate.
I sent off to the GRO index for a certificate I thought might be the right one from July/Aug/Sept 1918 but based on the GRO numbers West Derby 8b 511 got a birth certificate for a Thomas O'Brien born on 24th December 1917 and registered on 16th January 1918!!
From reading the Lancashire bmd website I understand that not all details have been transcribed correctly to the GRO and that the Liverpools record office have the actual originals.
Having sent for over five copies of certificates so far I am getting very frustrated.
Is there any way I can find the correct certificate details so I can send for the certificate please? His birth date is recorded on the death certificate as 22nd September 1920 but I cant find it in the GRo indexes so have been working backwards from that date.
His mother is Ann O>Brien born in 1889. She was living at 25 Elizabeth Road in the West Derby area of Liverpool.  Her third son was born in the Walton workhouse/hospital but her first son was born at home.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Irlam Road |Liverpool
« on: Thursday 05 April 07 23:36 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother worked as a servant at 92 Irlam Road, Bootle. She had an illigitimate child in 1913 and the father is not named I wondered if the occupier of Irlam Road could have been the father. Is there any way I can find out who lived there or do I have to wait for the next census to be released.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / confused in garstang I think!
« on: Thursday 05 April 07 17:26 BST (UK)  »
My great grand father Elijah Sanderson was the illegitimate child of Catherine Sanderson born 29th July 1845.
I have details on him based on my grandfather, Francis William Sanderson but ther are holes and I cant go back any further. Can anyone help me with the geography.
The birth cert says Preston Goosnargh, the 1881 census has Garstang as the birthplace, the 1891 census has Churchtown and the 1901 has Garstang again.
I just dont know where to start looking . Are these places near to each other?
I thought perhaps his mother died in childbirth as I cant find the family until 1881 when my grandfather was alive.  If I knew where to look church records may help.

Thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Birkdale cemetery
« on: Thursday 05 April 07 16:30 BST (UK)  »
I have just discovered that my grandparents Francis William Sanderson and Agnes Ann Sanderson are buried in the Liverpool Road cemetery called Birkdale Cemetery near Southport.
I went to see if I could find the graves and was amazed by the sheer size of the task when I saw the cemetery. I have since written to the council and they are in section L plot 745.
I would like to visit again and leave some flowers and read the inscription. Is there anyone who could narrow my search by telling me where section L would be please as I dont want to spend the week there!

Thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Birkdale cemetery
« on: Monday 26 March 07 23:43 BST (UK)  »
I know my paternal grandparents are both buried in Birkdale Cemetery but having recently visited the area and seen the size of the place I have no idea  where to start to find them. There is no way I can check out every grave!
My grandfather was Francis William Sanderson amd my grandmother Agnes Ann Sanderson.
My grandfather died after at end of WW2 I believe but I have no idea when and my grandmother died in 1968 I think.
Is there any one I can contact to find out where the plot might be? If so can anyone help by giving me a place to contact.
Thanks

They lived at 9 Little Mill which I have been told were railway cottages(?) My grandfather was born here. His mother was Elizabeth but she died between 1891 and 1901 She was 47 in 1891. If anyone can give any further information I would be very grateful
I have been unable to trace his or his wife's death and wondered which graveyard he would be in as I would like to visit the area this summer
