United States of America / Moreton family
« on: Friday 27 April 12 15:24 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to trace descendants of LILY MORETON (Born 1913 in Ashton under Lyne) (daughter of Thomas Price Moreton and Elizabeth Thelwell).   Thomas and Elizabeth emigrated to the USA post 1913.  In 1911 Thomas and Elizabeth had 4 other children - PERCY, FRANCIS JOSIAH, THOMAS PRICE, and  MARY ELIZABETH.

Lily married Elmer Lee Beard in 1930 and they lived in Laconia, Indiana.  I don't know if Lily and Elmer had any children, but would be grateful for any help to fill in the blanks on the family tree.

Thanks for reading this post.

Canada / Seeking descendants
« on: Wednesday 25 January 12 17:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am trying to find descendants (if any) of Samuel and Mary (a.k.a. Polly) Davies who emigrated c1908 to Vancouver.  Samuel was born 1874 in Llangollen, Wales, UK.   Mary's maiden name was Clark and she was born in 1875 in Wrexham Wales (UK).   Samuel and Mary had a son, Samuel Edward Davies born 1909 in Vancouver.
In 1911 Mary returned to Wales on a visit and gave birth to a daughter, Gladys.  She left Gladys behind with her in-laws, Edward and Elizabeth Davies when she and young Samuel returned to Canada.
Samuel (snr) returned once for a short visit but by then Gladys did not know him and did not want to go with him to Canada.  After that visit the family lost touch with Mary and Samuel.
That is the sum total of my information regarding the family.
If any of the above ties in with something in your family I would love to hear from you.
Regards

Canada / Davies family

Hi there - this is the first time I've used this, so please bear with me.

I'm trying to trace descendants of my g.great uncle Samuel Davies, born 1874 in Glynceiriog, north Wales.  In 1904 he married Mary Elizabeth Clarke (known as Polly) in Wrexham  (Wales) and in 1911 they emigrated to Canada - possibly Ottawa, leaving a 2 month old daugher behind.  It is known that they had at least one other child - a boy named Samuel - date of birth not known, c1913.  Samuel came back to the Uk for a short visit c1916 but did not take his daughter back with him.

From family recollection Samuel Snr. worked for a dairy - possibly delivering milk - and later became the owner of a dairy.  He died c1917.  Until then contact, although sporadic, had been maintained, but after his death all mail was returned marked "Gone Away" - ironic or what!

In the late 40s/early 1950s a newspaper clipping was sent to the UK showing a little girl presenting a bouquet to the Queen(?) (Princess Elizabeth?)  and on the clipping someone had written "Sam's granddaughter" - presumably Samuel Jr, but all reference to her name and the location had been removed.  I guess that as they had lost contact with the UK family for so long they wanted "sleeping dogs to lie".
Thanks for taking the trouble to read all this.  Any help will gratefully received.

United States of America / MORETON family

Hi,

First time on USA page - hope this is the correct one!

I'm trying to trace decendants of my great-uncle, THOMAS PRICE MORETON (occasionally spelt MORTON).  He was born on 4 June 1870 in Wales but emigrated sometime around the turn of the century.  Thomas married and had at least one daughter and he lived in Indiana.  He died on 5 July 1958 at the home of his daughter - MRS. ELMER BEARD in Laconia, Indiana.  Unfortunately I have no idea what his daughter's Christian name is.  This is the only information I have on the family so any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reading this.
