The Common Room / birth date v registration date 1881
« on: Sunday 19 February 12 14:45 GMT (UK)  »
I have a birth certificate for Janetta b 22/9/81 in Bradford it shows no fathers details
Her mother is shown as Emma Jeffries now the wife of John William Bogg,
The birth was registered on 28/1/1882 and interestingly Emma and John were married on 15/1/1882.
Is it usual for the birth to be registered so long after the birth?
I was also wondering if Emma and John went to the trouble of getting married why John wasn't shown as Janetta's father? presumably because he wasn't but if he wasn't why wait so long?

Am I reading more into this than I should?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Dunn/Pearson - Rotherham 1851
« on: Wednesday 04 January 12 17:24 GMT (UK)  »
My first post - please be gentle  :D
I’ve traced my Michael Dunn b 1831 in Ireland who married Hannah Pearson b.1840 Makersley, Yorks to the 1861 census when they were living in Rotherham with Hannah’s mother and two children. Trying to find Michael in 1851 census I have found two Michael Dunns both same yob and b in Ireland, one in Rotherham and one in Bradford. The only reason I'm only considering the one in Bradford is because I know that is where they all ended up in later life. Could it have been where he originally landed when came to England (another Dunn shown living at the same address maybe a brother?). If it is the Rotherham Michael Dunn it shows the actual place of birth in Ireland, so I’m hoping it is that one!.
As an alternative search I have tried to find the marriage record of Michael and Hannah but can find no record for Michael and have found two records for Hannah in Rotherham Q1 J-M 9c 553 in 1867 and A-J 9c 483 in 1862.
Can anyone else advise how I can take this forward, short of ordering two marriage certificates?

Thanks
