Cavan / Catherine Condron
« on: Wednesday 02 May 07 13:32 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to research Catherine Condron born 1815 who was caught stealing and sentenced at Dublin on 19/6/1832 to 7 years in Australia. Catherine was a catholic and born in the county of Cavan. I'm not sure if the name Condron is a common name in these parts.
Many thanks

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Breage marriage- Henry PHOEBE - Alice
« on: Friday 20 April 07 07:29 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to establish the maiden name of Alice in her marriage with Henry Phoebe (also Pheby) as shown on Cornwall microfisch - marriage date 1/2/1838; batch film number P015541; serial sheet 14277.
Rumour has it that Alice's maiden name was Vale but the IGI doesn't appear to record this.
Alice was born c1811 and in the 1841 census her birth place was shown as Ludgvan, Cornwall whilst in the 1851 census it was shown as Lelant Towednack Cornwall.
Many thanks

Midlothian / Anderson Family from Edinburgh
« on: Tuesday 09 January 07 11:14 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out more about the family of John Anderson (engineer) and his wife Eliza Clarke. They had a son John Anderson (also an engineer) born 1846 Edinburgh who emigrated to Brisbane Australia and married Jane Millward (Bricely Hill Staffordshire) on 7/6/1869.
Do any of these names or family appear on any census?
I realise that the name Anderson would be fairly common in Scotland, however, I'm hoping that the name Eliza Clarke may assist in narrowing the field down.
Cheers

New Zealand Completed Requests / Hardy's in Waiuku.
« on: Wednesday 03 January 07 12:07 GMT (UK)  »
Daniel, Martha and daughter Rebecca (died on ship) Hardy arrived in Auckland on 2/6/1865 from London on the Lancashire Witch. They lived at Waiuku and their last child, Daniel was born on 18/1/1873 in NZ.
They came to Bathurst NSW Australia and purchased land on 24/7/1873.
Could someone find out the name of the ship and date that this family departed from NZ.
I have checked all the shipping reels into NSW from NZ during the period January - July 1873 but to no avail. Very frustrating. I know they didn't swim across. ha ha
Any assistance would be very grateful.

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Sarah BERRY - Willingham Birth
« on: Sunday 12 November 06 10:05 GMT (UK)  »
Sarah Berry married William Edwards at Over Cambridgeshire in 1835. Sarah's sister, Rebecca was a witness to the marriage.
In the 1851 (southery, downham, norfolk) census, Sarah was reported to be 39yrs of age and born at Willingham.
However, the 1871 (st mary, ely) census showed Sarah was a widow living with her son William at age of 58yrs and indicating she was born at London.
What I would like to do is find out if a Sarah Berry was born at Willingham say between 1811 - 1814.
If not, then I could probably assume that the Sarah b23/2/1812 and Rebecca b 1/7/1810 both in Southwark St George the martyr London to parents William Berry and Ann
 maybe are the ones.
Apparently my gg grandmother advised that Sarah was born at Petticoat Lane (now middlesex road) London which is only heresay. Then again, why would Sarah in the 1851 census advise that she was born at Willingham. Who knows?
As previously mentioned, a Willingham lookup between 1811-1814 for Sarah Berry would be appreciated.
