Yorkshire (West Riding) / Old yorkshire Rhymes
« on: Tuesday 03 March 15 16:49 GMT (UK)  »
many years ago my Dad used to get all us little snots around him and tell us stories, one in particular is probably of Yorkshire origin?, correct me if I`m wrong and maybe add another verse ---------

There was a little Monkey worth ten pound
he washed and scattered up and walked all round
he went upstairs to make his little bed
fell in the chamber pot and broke his little leg
went down the cellar to get a sup to drink
the old man catched him and put him down the sink

This is best spoken with a Yorkshire dialect for effect.

Also Dad had a chest strapping piano accordion for sing alongs, he also played the Drums in the "Hand and Shuttle" pub on Tong street.
Sorry I`m waffling,  middle of the night here can`t sleep.......

Hi  all.
Calling from New Zealand for help, if anyone can.

I have a Timothy Kitson 1775 and sister Martha Kitson 1798,  both born in Doncaster........I`m looking for more details on  their Father and Mother who I found on the Calverley Yorkshire web site..........they were married at St Wilfreds parish church in 1792.    Timothy Kitson ---  Ann Wood,   more details on  these two PLEASE...............Most of other members of family following lived in Bradford where I originated from.  I do hope someone can help as I`ve been stuck here for months and can`t find a way through.  It is so hard to view records from N Z.

Kind Regards        Bert Kitson

Hi everybody,   pretty new at this but here goes.....

I`m researching the kitson root line,  progress so far:-   Richard kitson 1881--Edward kitson 1851--timothy kitson 1821-- timothy kitson 1795..
Now trying to find timothy`s [1795]  father..
I have found a marriage certificate of a timothy kitson and Ann wood married at St Wilfred Calverley West Yorkshire on 9TH July 1792. only their names on it [Ancestry.co]    But can`t find anything more.

If anyone can check this root line I would be most gratefull.

Note:-  Timothy 1795 was born in Doncaster and I believe he had a sister Martha 1798 also born in Doncaster.

Regards  Bert
