Staffordshire / Esther Kennick
« on: Friday 28 September 12 15:50 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon, I'm trying to trace back a lady called Esther Kennick who, allegedly, was born in Wolverhampton in 1860 but the only record I can find is her marriage to Martin Tunney in Durham in 1879.  Does anyone out here have any other information?  I have tried all the derivants of Esther and Kennick to little use and a scintilla of information might help.

Thanks in advance

One thing that irks me (although it shouldn't) is the absence of photographs from our past - its particularly galling when the immense resources of the Beeb always seem to be able to unearth that long forgotten picture to invoke feelings of nostalgia (I just wish we all that their resources).  However, I am looking to see if any pictures survive from the intake by the DLI during the first year of the 'Great War'.  My reason being that my Granddad and great uncles were killed or wounded at Ypres in 1915 and all that appears to remain are their names on the Menin Gate.

Does anyone know a a photographic archive - I've tried the DLI elements of the Northumberland archive to no avail.

I do have a picture of my great-Granddad (Martin Tunney) from the Brandon collection.

Ireland / Catherine / Thomas Leonard c.1801
« on: Saturday 08 September 12 08:58 BST (UK)  »
Good morning all,

Attempting to find Catherine Leonard (Lennard) born c.1801, who bore four children (Thomas - 1824, William, Mary and John) registered in Liverpool on the 1841 English Census but who is noted as coming from Ireland.  She may have married into the Leonard family but I can find no trace of birth records (Parish or BMD) for Thomas Leonard .

Are you able to assist with any previous research?

Mayo / Looking for Tunney antecedents in County Mayo
« on: Sunday 02 September 12 14:51 BST (UK)  »
I have gone back as far as this:

"James Tunney, B 1826 Mayo, Ireland, d. ,1912 Co Durham
m. Mary Murphy, B 1831, Mayo, Ireland, d. 1903, Durham"

Can you go back further than this - we know that Mary's Mother was Bridget but are looking for James' parents.

Scotland / John Elliott b. c.1831
« on: Tuesday 28 August 12 07:05 BST (UK)  »
Good morning all,

I am seeking information about a John Elliott who married a lady called Julia A (we think Norton but that may well be wrong) and who first appears on the 1861 English census aged 31 living in St Helens. They have two children; William aged 5 yrs born (or registered) in Gloucestershire and Joseph aged 6 months registered in St Helens, Lancashire.

We are looking for information about both John and Julia so anything you can tell would be very helpful.

Thanks
Uncle H
