ive found qiut a lot out abt my grandad frederick lewis bond born 1896 nuneaton. he was with the 2nd 7th royal warwickshire regt the army nos i have for him are 65103. and 266685 i no abt these army numbers . but reading through the 2nd 7th warwickshire war daires for ww1 i found this mention of fl bond army no 4642 how do i find what date and year he was given this army number. can anyone help it reads . 12th aprill 1917. montezelle farm battalion moved to montezelle farm. arrived 1145 am march past goc in fours on arrival. 2 parchments were handed out to no 4211 l/c h norman. and to fl bond army number 4642. for constant courage and devotion to duty while in the kratz sector 7th aprill 1917. at the line facing fresnoy le petit 8th aprill 1917. at 7pm c coy and 2 platoons of b coy attacked the village of fresnoy le petit. and after strong opposition reached the objective. taking 1 prisoner. casualtys 14 killed 2 missing. 2 died of wounds. 37 wounded. 1 officer capt birch was sniped b4 action commenced.
