The Common Room / Fry?Childs mystery.
« on: Wednesday 09 March 22 17:53 GMT (UK)  »
Samuel Childs was born in Yetminster Dorset in 1814 to Ann Childs single woman. He married Elizabeth Chaffey in 1836 and some time later he started to use the name Fry. Up to the 1861 census he called himself Samuel Childs, then in the 1871 census they started to use the name Fry.
In 1847 his son George Thomas was baptised George Thomas Childs or Fry.
Would anyone know why he would have started using another Surname? Total Mystery

Can anyone shed any light on Peter Carey Brown?
Think he was born in Middlesex to Arthur Carey Brown and Mary Meachen around between 1904 and 1918. He married someone called Pamela, but don't know when. He was still alive in the 1950's and lived in Burton Joyce Nottinghamshire. I am helping a friend trace his family tree. This person is just hiding from me. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
