My brother has a match of 7cm across 1 segment (5th to 8th cousin). I have found a common ancestor, but they were born around 1420! The family trees back to 1420 are well researched. Should I be looking for another more recent common ancestor?

The Common Room / Multiple Birth Registrations?
« on: Thursday 21 April 16 16:33 BST (UK)  »
I have a situation where a Deborah X married Mark Y in 2003. [Surnames suppressed for privacy].
There is a birth registered in 2000 as both Lauren Grace X and Lauren Grace Y (ie. before marriage).  There is a birth registered in 2005 as Lauren Grace Y.  There is no death registered for either Lauren Grace X or Lauren Grace Y.

All the above is from the transcriptions on Ancestry.com (which do not allow viewing the original GRO indexes).

Question : is it possible to re-register a birth following marriage of the parents?
