Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Gallaghers from Toronto, Canada
« on: Wednesday 09 March 22 15:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hoping someone can help with these photos. I've been trying to fix them, but they aren't good copies, and I have not been doing this long enough to fix them properly.

One has lines going through, that I can't remove.

These are the only copies I have, and I'm trying to make them good enough to have prints made.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I'm hoping someone can help me by repairing these two photos, of myself and my family from the 1950's, taken in Canada.

One photo is not very clear, and the other photo is damaged.

Thank you.

Antrim / What Presbyterian Churches were in Ballymena Area around 1840?
« on: Thursday 04 April 19 21:35 BST (UK)  »
Hoping someone can help with this question about the Presbyterian Churches in Ballymena.

My 2x's great grandparents were married in 1842. A researcher told us when they were married as well as where they were from. (Gortereghy & Killycoogan) Unfortunately, he did not state their father's names, or which church they were married in.

In 1851 (according to their daughter Mary) they were living at Gortaheron, Ahoghill, Toom Lower, Antrim.

I do know they ended up living on a farm off Gortgole Road, in Craigs, Ballymena.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how close to each other any of these places are. Any suggestions with regards to churches that would have been in those areas in 1840 - 1842 would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Armed Forces / Two people with Same Unit & Same Regimental Number ?
« on: Sunday 18 November 18 20:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hoping I can ask this question.

How likely is it, that a unit like the Royal Highlanders for instance would have 2 soldiers with the same Regimental number #6668? One soldier, Edward Lyle was in "Short Service" Black Watch - Royal Highlanders and the other I can't seem to find papers for but he is on the medal list with this number as well and apparently in the Royal Highlanders, but with the name John Clemo. (The other thing that puzzles me, is that there was no John Clemo born in Scotland, and I would assume that the soldiers in this particular unit would more likely than not have been born in Scotland, like Edward Lyle who was born in 1895 in Greenock.)

Neither of these gentlemen are related to me, but their regimental number is the same as my grandfather's (in the Royal Engineers).
