The Common Room / Adding DOGS to your family tree history
« on: Wednesday 01 July 15 15:01 BST (UK)  »
I am wondering, has anybody added their pets in their family tree? If so, what way did you do it?
I am a HUGE dog lover and I have thought about adding my dogs to the tree in some way.

Any thoughts?

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Stuck on a KEMBLE lineage
« on: Saturday 27 June 15 15:56 BST (UK)  »
I am going simply add the details, and would be grateful for those who could help me find the parents, Birth index or more census records for my great-great grandfather JAMES KEMBLE. Thus far, I have found the 1901 and 1911 census for James Kemble but I cannot seem to progress. Here are the details that I hope you can work with. Thank you!

James Kemble (born ca. 1873-1918) married Margaret Lyons (born 1880) in 1898 - they were both born and married in Cardiff, Wales according to the census records and BMD.

Children (all born in Cardiff):
Mary Catherine Kemble born 1899
Margaret May Kemble born 1900
James Kemble born 1901
Theresa Kemble born 1903
Hilda Kemble born 1907
Monica Kemble born 1909
William Francis Kemble born 1910 and died 1968 (my great-grandfather)
Lawrence Kemble born 1912
Dorothy Kemble born 1914

Europe / Burial for Joannes Franciscus Mees
« on: Wednesday 29 January 14 11:27 GMT (UK)  »
I am wondering if anyone could help find a burial for my Belgian 2nd Great Grandfather.

Born: 14 Feb 1876 in Boom, Antwerp, Belgium
Married: 16 Oct 1915 (in Cardiff Wales, UK to Mary Hollingshead Gwynn)

He left the UK shortly after marriage to Mary H Gywnn. She had a child with him named Mary Elizabeth Mees.

I am unsure whether he moved back to Belgium or he moved to another country or another part of the UK. But he would have died after 1915.

Alternate Names: Jean Frans Mees / Jan Frans Mees

The Common Room / How can I contact someone who is not replying?
« on: Wednesday 06 November 13 19:46 GMT (UK)  »
I have gathered a huge amount of confusion. I am trying to use a tree as a guide from a potential cousin and I google every individual I add but in other trees online, I see some parents with different names, some with different children, then the rest is the same, then some different, back and fourth like that. So I am trying to contact this person but am not getting a response!!!

The Lighter Side / How to discover who I am related to that are famous?
« on: Monday 04 November 13 15:06 GMT (UK)  »
I went through a tree and notice I am descended from Royalty in France, Germany, Belgium and those sort of places. I googled some of the names and it also said who he is the distant grandfather of like Obama, Diana etc. But, I am wondering, I may be related to more than just the few listed. Is there a way I can create a search by name and see who that person is the ancestor of, if you follow my meaning?

Here is that link I was taking about - http://fabpedigree.com/s078/f166434.htm

The Common Room / Where is the BEST place to get a family tree printed?
« on: Sunday 03 November 13 09:38 GMT (UK)  »
I want to get a direct lineage family tree chart printed. I understand that it will require a huge roll of paper. So where is the best place to get one printed that has a small amount of limitations? Something that does not cost too much! (UK only)

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / What do I need to know before getting a DNA test?
« on: Saturday 02 November 13 19:19 GMT (UK)  »
Before paying for a test, I want to just know as much as possible from you RootsChat members. For example, how will it work? How much information can I expect? Is it going to be accurate? Who do I need to get a sample from (Dad, Mum etc)? And, et cetera.

Thanks!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Europe / When did BMD records come into action in Belgium?
« on: Thursday 31 October 13 20:52 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to understand some birth dates I have found via trees but can't clarify them myself as there aren't digital records for them. So, when did full birth records come into place in Belgium? Should I consider the dates as baptisms before the 1800s like I have for British records?

Ireland / William Lyons from Ireland - Moved to Cardiff
« on: Tuesday 15 October 13 19:41 BST (UK)  »
I am in need of assistance to find the ancestors of William Lyons who was from Ireland. He shows up in the 1881 and 1891 census and his age can be calculated to circa 1856. He married a Mary Ann (unsure of surname) in 1880. They had a couple of children judging from the census records, one being Margaret who is my Great-Great Grandmother, she married James Kemble.

But, I am looking for the ancestors of William Lyons. I can't find access to FreeBMD in Ireland. Any help would be great. Also, if anyone could also shed some light on JAMES KEMBLE then the help would be appreciated.
