Another exercise for all you restorers, see what you can do with this 1897 photo. I do not have the

  original, that's been lost.

World War One / Housewife supplied by army.
« on: Wednesday 25 July 18 11:08 BST (UK)  »
This is probably quite simple to answer, for you military experts. One of my relatives signed for the

following in 1917. But what is a Housewife? The mind boggles ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Gawber Church Records, Barnsley
« on: Tuesday 20 April 10 11:50 BST (UK)  »

I have been asked, by one of the members, when the church records

for Gawber will be back on line. I must admit that I wasn't aware that

the site was no longer available. I have just spoken to the Rev'd Mark

Poskitt who informed me that the person responsible for running the site,

could no longer do so, due to other commitments. He had though found

another volunteer who has agreed to undertake the task. The site should

be up and running this summer, but exactly when he couldn't say.

« on: Thursday 20 August 09 16:33 BST (UK)  »

A book is to be written about the Honeywell area

of Barnsley. The book will record the history of the area

and the life and times of the people there. If you lived there

and have memories which you would be willing to share please

let me know. Or any connection which you may think interesting.

The Lighter Side / ""Wentworth Castle Tour" Moved to TOTB. Here is the Link.
« on: Sunday 07 September 08 21:36 BST (UK)  »

The Wentworth Castle Tour topic has been moved from

the "Lighter Side" board to the "Totally Off Topic Bit."

The reason for this escapes me, as the topic has been on

the "Lighter side" for the last 6 months. I just assume that

there is some logical reason for doing so. For all you who do not

post on this topic but just enjoy looking at the pictures (absolutely

nothing wrong with that) then here is the link. Just double click on

the blue link and you should be taken straight to the topic. I didn't

want you to think that I had removed it.
