The Common Room / Timothy OShea
« on: Sunday 29 October 23 07:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I’m hoping someone has access to Ancestry newspapers and journals, or can advise how I can get free access to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle archives. Recent upgrade of my subscription to Ancestry Worldwide requires an extra payment for the above.
I have all the relevant information on Timothy O’Shea, thanks to a previous post on the forum.
There is an obituary for him in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle dated 10 May 1946. This is all I require on this person.
Thanks in advance.
Brian

The Common Room / Alfred Frederick or Frederick Skipp
« on: Wednesday 11 October 23 14:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am researching for a friend the above.
We have found quite a lot about him but we are struggling with a couple of things.
His age keeps varying on his marriage certificate Frederick Skipp to Sarah Duckett he is b 1857, in various census returns he is b 1852, then in 1921 b 1846.The 1891 & 1901 he is born in Ireland, the 1911 Lydney, Gloucestershire. So any proof of his birth either here or in Ireland would be good.
According to his marriage certificate his father is William Skipp, an Architect.
Any information about possible parents.
He moved around quite a bit Gloucestershire, Northampton (marriage) Sheffield, Smethwick and Oldbury. From Hotel Porter to Licenced Victualler.
Yesterday I found a Cheltenham birth for a son to Alfred Frederick Skipp in 1892, I believe this to be him as the address corresponds to one we have for him.
Regards
Brian

Limerick / Jeremiah O’Shea
« on: Wednesday 11 October 23 14:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I’m researching for a friend who is trying to trace her Irish roots.
We believe the following is correct in the 1901 & 1911 Irish census. Newcastle Co Limerick.
Jeremiah O’Shea b 1855 gardener, Mary (Kehoe or Keogh) children John, James and Mary with a previous wife. Catherine and Jeremiah with Mary.
We would like to find,
 a) his first wife. He marries Mary in 1897. We assume his first wife died between 1890 and then, as his daughter Mary is born c 1890.
b) his father’s details who is named as Patrick O’Shea on the marriage registration. My friend has a Patrick on her tree married to a Bridget Deenin-Shea but this must be incorrect as he would be 10 and she 11, when Jeremiah was born.

The Common Room / Translation required
« on: Wednesday 24 November 21 11:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have previously posted regarding Eugenie Emelie Scwartztrub, married to Robert William Dibdin.
I do not require any info on them as such.
Several members have kindly researched and found documents on line.
What I require if possible is a translation of the document in the following link. It runs to over three pages. There is a box at the bottom of the viewer to move pages.
For some reason the last part of the link doesn't control/click so it may have to be typed in manually.

« on: Wednesday 17 November 21 13:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Currently helping a friend to search for a family record. Can anyone please help fill in any blanks.

Suzanne Marguerite Schwartztrub (born Bourlier) was born 1830, to Jacques Bourlier and Suzanne Bourlier (born Larmée) .
Suzanne was born on 1798, in Beutal, France.
Suzanne married Pierre Joseph Schwartztrub 1857, at age 27.
Pierre was born on August 1 1808, in Montbéliard, Doubs, , France.
They had 2 children: Eugenie Emilie Dibdin (born Schwartztrub) and one other child .
Suzanne passed away.
We know that Eugenie married Robert William Dibdin, who became knighted and Eugenie became a Dame. It's the above we require help on.

« on: Thursday 21 January 21 17:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I’ve posted on the general forum and received some interesting/informative replies. I’m wondering if someone on the dedicated US forum can add some detail.
The above person has an obituary in the Denver Post 08/23/1973. I’ve tried to check online but can’t gain access.
He was married to my friends aunt Alice R Bartlett b 1924 in England, they married in 1946 in England and had a daughter. (Not named as could still be alive). The wife and child emigrated to the US in 1946. She remarried to Robert Eugene Stuck and died in Belleville, Illinois.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
I am still researching for a friend.
I have the following info on the above but if any one can add more I would be grateful.
He was serving over here in WW2 and married Alice Rosina Bartlett in 1945, Essex.

Then the family went to America in 1946 aboard the CSS Barry. (Manifest on Ancestry)
He had already returned.
I found a Veterans grave for him b 4 Jan 1924 d 22 Aug 1973. Ms Serjeant Vietnam buried Fort Logan Denver, Colorado.
Did he die in Vietnam?
Alice went on to marry a Robert Eugene Stuck. I have plenty of information for them.
It is just any background for Arthur I require.
Regards and Thanks in advance.

« on: Thursday 20 August 20 06:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm hoping that someone can help me.
Researching a friends tree I have got stuck.
I have a family that probably emigrated to New Zealand either directly or via Australia.
I am pretty sure one of the daughters married and died there.
Gertrude Irene Gill (married a J Auger) b 1905 Liverpool d 1986 Auckland, is all I can access freely.
The other members were: William Gill b 1861 Liverpool, Wilhemina (Minnie)Gill b 1871 as  Hamilton, William Gill jnr b 1901 Liverpool and Edna Louise b 1910.
I have them in 1911 living Deepfield Road, Sefton, Liverpool, then only Gertrude, as above.
Thanks in advance.

The Common Room / William Froud
« on: Monday 22 June 20 17:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am currently researching a friends family tree, I have found a William Froud 1822-1883, I know his birth and death details also the 1861,1871,1881 census details. He was born and died in Maidstone, Kent. He was a Chelsea pensioner, sergeant Kent Militia in 1861, publican 36, Sandling St. The Royal Artillery, public or beer house, in 1871/1881.
His son was born in Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) in 1846. (From a marriage certificate).
I am trying to find when he married to Elizabeth ?? (also born in Kent). Also any information re his army career, I assume he must have been in Australia around 1846ish. Were any Kent regiments in Tasmania around this time? We’re they guarding transported prisoners etc? Could he have transferred between regiments?
Regards
Brian
