Derbyshire / GEORGE SHAW OF ILKESTON
« on: Thursday 27 April 06 13:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am trying to find out any info on George SHAW's family 1779c of Ilkeston. I know about his wife and his children but nothing about any brothers or sisters he may of had or indeed anything about his parents. I have hit a brick wall and would love to know more about George. There is a family story that he was related somehow to john Shaw who became known as a cossall giant during the Battle of Waterloo, but this is again something I have been unable to confirm. Please if anyone can help please contact me as this would help a lot.
Many thanks
Rachie

« on: Wednesday 22 March 06 20:39 GMT (UK)  »
i don't know if any can help but i am trying to trace my grandmothers second marriage.her name was Sarah Ellen Richardson(her married name)she was born in 1906 .she would of married her second husband after 1959 her first died in that year.i can remember the surname of her second husband -morris but not his first. my mother and other close family are very reluctant to talk about him and always change the subject so i have not pushed the issue.although speaking to a cousin it may be possible he committed a very bad crime although this may not be true .they lived in Edwinstowe so its possible they married there.please can any find a record of their marriage because i would like to research that part of my grandmothers life
many thanks

Australia Lookups completed / court record houldsworth
« on: Thursday 29 September 05 08:15 BST (UK)  »
hi can anyone help me ,sorry but the info i have is very sketchy as i don't know where to look ,i will tell you all i know:
an unknown Houldsworth was sent to Australia when he committed a crime of poaching.
His wife who's maiden name was Shaw and their children applied to go there with him
i know they had a child called Benjamin born c1850
The wife was born in Ilkeston Derbyshire but i suspect that the unknown Houldsworth was from Yorkshire (very common name from there)
i am sorry that this is all i have maybe someone could help me to find out more about them .Thank you
Rachie ;)
