Wiltshire / What am I looking at?
« on: Sunday 08 June 14 15:59 BST (UK)  »
I have been researching my husband's Hoskins/Haskins relatives  and have now arrived in Wiltshire with Henry Haskins b 1648 Warminster. His father is Morris Haskins. I cannot find much about Morris other than he had another child Elizabeth AND an Ancestry entry entitled "England Extracted Parish and Court Records" Bundle H42. Collections England - calendar of Chancery Proceedings, Bills and Answers filed in the reign of King Charles 1st.

Can someone tell me where to look further to find out more about this? I have never come across this before

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / White of Wotton Under Edge and further?
« on: Monday 24 March 14 17:22 GMT (UK)  »
I have a George White born approx 1747 (according to census) who was living in the Ann Bearpacker Almshouses, Wotton Under Edge,  in 1841 at the grand age of 94. He cannot have lasted much beyond that but I cannot find his death locally. George was in the same household as a Mark White, b 1784 possibly another son of his but cannot trace him either

George married Mary Petty in Hawksbury, 1774 and I have found one child born there, George 1774 and another son John, who is my direct relation, born Wotton Under Edge 1779.

I would love to know when George died and when and where he was born. Also, if he and Mary had any more children apart from George and John. Really hoping someone can help here.

Cornwall / Quick question about Illogan
« on: Wednesday 12 March 14 17:06 GMT (UK)  »
I see that the OPC doesn't have many records for Illogan, at least not the ones that I am looking for.  Is there any other way these records can be seen? Are these intended to become available in the project?

Somerset / John Adams - baker of Walcot
« on: Wednesday 15 January 14 19:02 GMT (UK)  »
I was unable to find the 1861 census record for my great great grandfather John Adams B. Batheaston 1827 (and his wife Eliza Luckwell)  THEN I had a stroke of luck and found that the London Gazette reported that he became insolvent and I believe that he was eventually sent to Taunton gaol. One of the reports actually states that this was someone else but the address tallies up exactly with this relative, just a mixing up of two names really.

How can I find out if he really was in gaol at the time of the census and how long would he have served for being a debtor? And where would Eliza have been?
