England / Locating clip of great granddad in 1970s UK TV programme
« on: Monday 20 March 23 08:09 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate the only video clip of my great grandfather Max, in a documentary of the parks of Berlin in a programme (or episode) we believe was called 'The Parks of Berlin'. It was broadcast in the UK around about  1971/72. The clip shows him in Viktoriapark in Kreuzberg, watching a chess game being played.

It’s a bit of a long shot but would anyone be able to help at all please? We have been trying to find it for many years now and it would be incredibly special for the whole family to see it, especially his 94 year old daughter.

Surrey Lookup Requests / Surrey History Centre lookup request - burial of Isaiah Golding
« on: Tuesday 24 September 19 18:51 BST (UK)  »
I'd be very grateful if anyone visiting the centre could check the Brookwood Cemetery burial records for me please. I've searched many East London cemetery records with no success.

My ancestor's death certificate gives the following details:
Isaiah Golding died 10th Aug 1902 at 23 Morris Road, Bromley (by Bow) at the age of 62.

I'm hoping that if he's there, then many other family members will be too in which case I'll make a visit myself.

If someone could do this it would be very much appreciated.

London and Middlesex / Married 13 years after first child?
« on: Sunday 20 January 19 10:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I’m intrigued to know why my ancestors Richard Stinton (born 1801 in Shadwell) and Maria Bines (born c1811 in Bow) married in St. Dunstan in Stepney, 13 years after their first known child was born in 1830. Their son William was the first to appear in civil registration, born in 1839 - four years before their marriage.

I had thought that Richard was previously married to Maria Wilcox in 1826 at the same church. However, this was another Richard born c1791 in Worcestershire and can be found in the 1841 and 1851 censuses in St. George Hanover Square and 1861 in Fordingbridge, Hampshire.

Please let me know your thoughts and theories.

Kind regards,
Chris

US Lookup Requests / Who were Charles Essex's parents?
« on: Tuesday 29 May 18 20:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

The marriage return for Charles Essex to Lizzie Lavina Freeman, 1886 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana shows his parents as 'C Essex' and 'Manda (Illegible)'. How would I go about finding the record from which this information was transcribed so that I may, hopefully, correctly identify his parents as they are a complete mystery. Any help is much appreciated.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / What building is this? In Berlin?
« on: Tuesday 18 October 16 16:33 BST (UK)  »
Could anyone identify the building in the photo, please? I thought it was of the Reichstag in Berlin but comparing it to other photos, it isn't the case. The photo was most likely taken in Berlin but other possible locations are San Francisco, California and Denver, Colorado based on where the person in possession of this photo lived.

Could anyone give me any information about this photo, please? Apparently it is of a family member taken in Strabane, Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Hello all,

An Irish relative received the attached photo from an aunt. The two men are possibly from the French (the surname, not the people) side of my family from Donegal or Tyrone in Ireland. Could anyone shed any light, please?

Chris
