Antrim Completed Look up Requests / Floral Hall. Belfast
« on: Saturday 20 October 07 21:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone, been away on a long trip. Visited Alaska, Korea, Russia, and many parts of China. Have seen some wonderful sights and also a few sad ones.  Big eye opener to 3rd world countries.!
I came back to find an email from a lady who is working for the B.B.C. in Belfast and she writes

"Hi Valerie,
I'm developing a 3 part series on the Floral Hall for BBC Northern Ireland set in the 1930s/40s , the 1950s and the 1960s. We hope to include interviews with people from all three eras. I've spoken to a man who remembers sitting on the girders of the floral Hall as it was being built in 1935.  And women who danced there during the war. I've had an incredible response and it seems the place your father built occupies a warm place in people's hearts.   I'm really short on photos of the Floral Hall, both inside and outside from the era we're covering. Do you or your extended family  have any photos you'd be willing to share? I'm also looking for archive material like playbills, tickets, memorabilia relating to the Floral.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

All the best, Andrea."

So, if any of you out there would have any information, old tickets, pictures of the outside or inside of the Hall, or anything to do with it, can you please contact me urgently and I will put you intouch with Andrea directly.
Talk to your elder relations, bet some of them have tales to tell or have the odd memorabilia stashed away some place in an auld box just waiting to be found:)
Do hope you can help us.
Val.

Down / Dickson.
« on: Saturday 18 March 06 03:50 GMT (UK)  »
I have this very old book which was given to the sister of my great uncle Robert Dickson in 1887 please see attachment.
He came from Drumadowney. Co. Down. I am told

I am looking for help with two questions please.

1.  Can anyone tell me if there was/is a St. Mark's Church in the Co. Down area.

2nd. The book is called Derry. A Tale of the Revolution by Charlotte Elizabeth. New Edition. (don't know what that means). Can anyone tell me if this book has any other value other than the sentimental one I have for it.

Armagh / Galloway
« on: Friday 24 February 06 02:09 GMT (UK)  »
I have studied these two Galloway families until  my eyes are now crossed!  Can anyone please help me find a connection between the two family of Galloway's. Fresh eyes just might do the job.
If anyone has any information which I can add to either family that also would be brilliant. Dare I ask for pictures ? Ok that would be asking way too much I agree. :)
