Norfolk Lookup Requests / 1851 census Kingwood/Kingswood
« on: Wednesday 22 August 07 09:16 BST (UK)  »
My 4 x gr grandmother was an Ann Kingswood b 1760 in Lincolnshire and most of that family are to be found there.

However, from the National Archives 1851 census index there are listed a number of Kingwood/Kingswood persons in Norfolk, notably the parish of Walsingham/Wells that are of great interest to my family research. I'm wondering if someone could do a look up of these families or look to see if there are any other Kingwood/Kingswood families in Norfolk. Later census mention some names in Snettisham, Docking.

Amongst the names I've found listed in the index are William Kingswood b 1784/1811 Robert b 1780/1809/1827 and a number of youngsters John, Robert, Ann, Sarah, Jane  Martha.

Thanking you in advance for any help.

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / 1861,1871 census look up Burchell
« on: Sunday 15 April 07 15:12 BST (UK)  »
I have come across two Richard BURCHELLS, father and son. of interest in the 1881 census at 4 Victoria Pl Bermondsey, Surrey, England

Richard Burchell aged 60 born County Cork Labourer
Richard Burchell aged 21 born Bermondsey Labourer.

This might be an uncle of my great grandfather Richard Birchell who came from Co Leitrim but I'd always been told his family originated in Co Cork.

Any help at finding these 2 Richard's and other family greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / 1861,1871 census BIRCHELL/BIRCHALL
« on: Sunday 15 April 07 14:32 BST (UK)  »
I've recently discovered after a life time searching that my maternal great grandfather Richard BIRCHELL was born in Carrick-on-Shannon in Co Leitrim in Ireland. The information comes from his army record.

In the 1881 census I've come across a Joseph Birchall b in 1837 also in Co Leitrim working as a Cotton Packer in Oldham, Lancs living with wife Ann Birchall at 113 Beech Street Oldham.

Could anyone take a look at earlier 1871.1861 census etc. to see if they can find any sightings on this Joseph Birchall on the mainland and any children or other family.

My Richard Birchell signed up for the Royal Cheshire Militia in Lancashire in 1857 but his previous occupation was cotton worker.

Any assistance, as always, is most appreciated.

Very Best Regards

I am looking for a 1851/1861 census look up and any information for a William Graydon and Ann who, according to LDS  had three sons born and christened in Whickham Co Durham.

Thomas Graydon b 1850
Joseph Graydon b Apr 1851
John B Graydon b 1853

I have no marriage or places of birth or ages for William and Ann but it would appear, at least in 1851 they are living in the Whickham area.

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Dorking EDE families
« on: Thursday 24 August 06 09:21 BST (UK)  »
Last week I posted a request on the Sussex board for information on an EDE family found in Keymer Sussex where my own Dorking EDE family were to be found in the 1841 census. I had been seeking a link between Sussex and Dorking EDE's found there at that time.

Thanks to excellent help from Rootschat member Tricia, the thread has grown and beyond my original request she has been providing such a lot of information on Dorking EDE families

Therefore I am posting this link to the thread for those Surrey or EDE researchers who may find the information useful to their own search, or may be able to add additional information to the thread. I am particularly keen to link up my own Dorking EDE family origins to other Dorking EDE families pre 1800.

Thanking Tricia, and anyone else for your interest and any help

Ayrshire / 1841 Girvan census look up
« on: Wednesday 24 May 06 10:58 BST (UK)  »
I am wondering if someone could  do a 1841 Census look up for Girvan for the following McConnel/McConnell family. By 1851 the parents were dead and I'm hoping for confirmation of the family structure and whether the parents were local or from Ireland.

I have used SRO and the name was spelt McCONNEL with one "L" in this 1841 census although later spellings were with McConnell.

This is the family information I have

GIRVAN
JOHN McCONNEL 40 -45
CATHERINE McCONNEL 40-45
EDWARD McCONNEL 13
JOHN McCONNEL 6-7

Thanking you in advance for any assistance

Best Regards
Art Birchell.
