Fife / Miniman or Minniman from Dysart or Largo.
« on: Saturday 13 August 22 07:34 BST (UK)  »
I'm interested in Alison Miniman who married John (Johne) Williamson in Largo in 1641.  Would like to hear from any connections.

Fife / Janet Dryburgh
« on: Wednesday 10 August 22 08:00 BST (UK)  »
I've identified Janet Dryburgh, b 1590 Dysart (Ancestry) as a likely ancestor.  She married David Dowie in 1614 (I have the record from SP).  I can't verify the year of birth through SP but others have her parents listed as Alexander Dryburgh and Janet Chirrie.  I have records for both these people, 1628, but they had their children in the 1640s (I have a marriage record and various birth records).  I've tried contacting those who have posted the information in their trees, but no luck yet.

The dates just don't match up.  The marriage date and birth dates don't make sense.

Any thoughts on how to proceed.

Ireland / John Morgan and Jean (?Golden) - county unknown
« on: Saturday 19 March 22 06:40 GMT (UK)  »
The children of John and Jean migrated to Scotland before 1841 (some are in the Census).  The eldest was Francis b 1788 in Ireland,  d 1856 in Glasgow.  They lived in Ayrshire and Lanarkshire.  I wonder if anyone has come across John and Jean - I don't know if they migrated to Scotland.

Jean and John were born and married in Ireland.  Their children came to Scotland and lived in Ayrshire and Lanarkshire, mostly in mining.  I'd love to know if anyone has Jean and John in their tree.

Renfrewshire / Mrs D McKirdy death Greenock
« on: Friday 19 February 21 00:55 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to identify the bodies in a family lair in Greenock (Lair No 68).  One is a Mrs D McKirdy, buried 3 March 1859.  The problem, of course, is: does her first name start with the "D", or does her husband's first name start with "D".  Can anyone help with this one?

Renfrewshire / Greenock cemetery lookup McKirdy
« on: Sunday 31 January 21 01:43 GMT (UK)  »
Alexander McKirdy is recorded as being interred in Greenock's Inverkip Street cemetery, but there is no date.  The inscription is :Alexander McKirdy, porter and his heirs, No 192. Can anyone do a look up for more information please.  I suspect he was a cholera victim in 1832, but need more information.

Buteshire / Mary McMillan McKirdy
« on: Saturday 30 January 21 05:10 GMT (UK)  »
Alexander McKirdy was born Greenock 1807 to parents Alexander/Mary McMillan, though I believe there are links to Bute.  I have considerable information about Alexander, but little about his parents.
His parents are shown in birth and death records, though there is a baptism for parents Alexander McCurdy/Mary McMullen in Catholic church records.  I found a Mary McKirdy in the 1841 Greenock census, with three daughters - Mary Ann, Elizabeth and Janet.  I have found a Catholic baptism for Mary Ann (again to McCurdy/McMullen), but no births notices for any of the girls.  This group appears to have moved to Rothesay where I find them in 1861 - again in 1891 (without Mary).  The mother, Mary, is too young to have had Alexander in 1807.  There may be a link with McFies, as Alexander jnr registered the death of a younger Alexander (parents Daniel and Sarah McFie) as his uncle.  Any thoughts would be helpful.

Renfrewshire / Archibald McPherson 1871 census Greenock
« on: Wednesday 19 February 20 06:18 GMT (UK)  »
I can't find Archibald McPherson or his wife Christina in any 1871 census records.  They both died in Greenock, Christina in 1872 and Archibald in 1879.  they were both born in Argyle.  Archibald in 1818 and Christina (ms McPherson) in 1820.  I found their daughter Jessie boarding in the 1871 census.  Can anyone give me some thoughts on this please.

Perthshire / Badroach
« on: Sunday 16 February 20 02:00 GMT (UK)  »
Janet McPherson (about 1776) is said to be born in Badroach, Perthshire.  I can't find any reference to a town or village of that name.  Can anyone make a suggestion.
