Dumfriesshire / James Stewart 1844 - 1926.
« on: Wednesday 12 August 09 19:33 BST (UK)  »
Born in Dumfries in 1844 [per 1871, 1881 1891, 1901 and 1911 Censuses + Marriage Certificates.]  Son of John Stewart.
Mother and exact Date of Birth unknown.  Living in Swansea, S Wales at least from 1871 to 1926.

I hoped the attach photo of him in uniform would give a lead.  No idea of when he was in the army. No trace of his army record from 1873 to 1913 at PRO Kew

Have no idea of how to push past this block.  James is my Great Grandfather.

Warwickshire / Carol Montague Hill Pease
« on: Monday 28 May 07 11:31 BST (UK)  »
1896 - 2 Oct 1917.  He was a Private in 2nd Bn., Royal Warwickshire Regiment

His nephew [Ernest Montague John Pease] died in WW2.  His grandfather [James Hill] was a retired soldier and lived at Lord Leycesters Hospital, Warwick until 1899.

I found a lot about him through official records.  He is included on the Warwick War Memorial.  I would really like to trace a photograph of him or contact his nearest relatives to exchange information.

I have not been able to find William's christening, parents or siblings.

I know he married Hannah Whitehead on 19 June 1786 at Westbury, Bucks.
He was from Padbury, Bucks per Banns of Marriage.

He was buried at Westbury on 27 November 1834.

Would like to push the family tree further back.

William Ernest Pease  1904 - 1989

I was able to find the records of my father arriving in Canada in 1927.  He got as far west as Strathmore, Alberta working for the Canadian Pacific Railway, doing farm work.  He returned to Britain in 1932 ish, definitely back by 1940.

Is there any way to find out what boat he returned on.
